Job description

Position Overview: 
This role is responsible for overseeing a team of Distribution Technicians in the maintenance, repair, and installation of water distribution system assets. This role ensures smooth daily operations by coordinating schedules, managing resources, and maintaining compliance in accordance with safety and regulatory standards. This role acts as a liaison between technicians and leadership, supports administrative functions, and is a key responder to distribution emergencies. Strong leadership, communication, and technical proficiencies are essential in enabling operational excellence and delivering key services to customers. 

Key Responsibilities: 
Leads activities of assigned Distribution Technician crew including, scheduling, and coordinating resources to establish and meet company initiatives and goals. Partners with the Superintendent and Supervisor to effectively manage the team.   
Liaises between crew and leadership to ensure crew members effectively contribute to company goals and reflect company values. 
Performs administrative tasks to support crew function (e.g. work order creation and closure, operations and maintenance documentation, production reports, and other computer-based tasks). 
Oversees and coordinates the maintenance and audit programs for inventory parts and tools, including reconciliation of orders, packing slips, and budget maintenance. 
Either directly, or by directing the work of others, maintains the distribution system assets, including flushing mains, hydrant maintenance, service box repairs, meter service and other system upkeep as needed or required.   
Either directly or through coordinating the work of others, installs and maintains assets, including mains, valves, hydrants, services, and meters.   
Collaborates with contractors on an as needed basis to coordinate tasks while ensuring compliance. 
Oversees call before you dig activities and ensures compliance with State Department of Health.  
Ensures fleet cleanliness and equipment maintenance. 
Responds independently to all emergency situations and assists other Distribution Technicians with decisions on less routine on-call issues. 
Responsible for responding 24/7 to distribution emergencies including assembling a team, notification of internal and external emergency contacts, notification of customers, and any paperwork and permits required. 
Adheres to learning, following and ensuring compliance with all company safety rules. This includes rules and regulations in the Company Safety Manual, MUTCD, OSHA regulations and other state, federal, or governing body's rules and regulations. 
Performs other duties as required or assigned. 

Qualifications: 
High School Diploma or GED and/or 5+ years of relevant professional experience with progressively increased levels of responsibility. 
Valid Driver's License with acceptable Motor Vehicle Record.  
CDL License must be obtained within 6 months of employment.  
Holds valid Class B Water Distribution License. 
Holds relevant certifications required for the team's need or directed by management. 
Subject matter expert in one or more functional areas of water system construction, flushing programs, and hydrant upkeep. 
Strong communication, leadership and collaboration skills.  
Customer service experience required.  
Ability to participate in physical activities including lifting, bending, squatting, reaching, kneeling, climbing, and working in awkward positions, as well as using heavy weight tools and materials. Â
