Job description

Summary:
The Distribution Lead works closely with the Distribution Supervisors and other lead(s) to ensure that orders are efficiently and accurately picked, packed and shipped. The Distribution Lead must have a high degree of flexibility within their work schedule to cover other Distribution Lead(s) in different functional areas with different schedules.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Assists in overseeing the day-to-day functions of the warehouse.
  • Participates in weekly management meetings to evaluate safety, quality, productivity and staffing goals.
  • Monitors open order volume and continuously adjusts work assignments as necessary to achieve maximum efficiency.
  • Participates in the coordination of safety exercises including tornado and fire drills.
  • Meets with employees one-on-one for Quality and Productivity data. Coaches and counsels those who are not meeting expectations.
  • Ensures that all case-pick orders are processed accurately and timely.
  • Provides input and assists with employee performance reviews.
  • Ensures that cycle and spot counts are continuously up to date. Reports status regularly to Distribution Supervisor.
  • Sign for deliveries as needed.
  • Assists employees with inventory or system issues.
  • Ensures warehouse equipment is in good operating condition. Performing equipment safety checks as per policy.
  • Basic facility maintenance including but not limited to: conveyors, a variety of printing and labeling equipment, flow racking, shelving, and pallet racks.
  • Monitors supply volume and reports inventory needs to Supervisors.
  • Assists Supervisor in coordinating the training of new staff on picking and packing procedures including new employee orientation and safety training.
  • Ensures that all areas are cleaned and organized for the next day.
  • Assists the Distribution Supervisor in meeting evening deadlines, closing and securing the facility.
  • May be asked to work extended hours in the event of a crisis or urgent business need.

Requirements
Qualifications:
Minimum Education:
  • High School Diploma

Preferred Requirements:
  • 2 or more years' lead or supervisory experience, preferably in a warehousing environment. Certificate/Bachelor's Degree in management or equivalent experiences a plus.
  • Ability to operate a fork lift, hand trucks, and carts.
  • Basic math skills and computer skills required such as MS Word, MS Excel and & MS Outlook.
  • Ability to instruct and relate to employees and utilize the best teaching methods.
