Job description

One Tech Engineering is searching for a Distribution Outage Coordinator for a position located in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The Distribution Outage Coordinator will be responsible for writing and coordinating electrical switch plans as well as writing procedures.

The candidate must be a US citizen or hold a green card. The candidate should have 5+ years’ experience as a trouble man/lineman.

Distribution Outage Coordinator Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and coordinate switching requests for distribution and grid work activities.
  • Develop and manage switch plans for the territory.
  • Coordinate with the Control Center and other stakeholders to support outage activities.
  • Review upcoming work activities and ensure required switching documentation is prepared, reviewed, and approved.
  • Assist with scheduling and coordination of approved switching activities.
  • Provide communication and support between field teams and the Control Center throughout the switching process.
  • Maintain knowledge of safety tags, clearances, and switching procedures.
  • Support safe work practices and compliance with operational requirements.
  • Assist with addressing questions, updates, and follow-up items related to switching activities.

Requirements of the Distribution Outage Coordinator:

  • Minimum of 5 years of field experience; lineman or troubleman experience preferred.
  • Strong background in electric distribution systems and field operations.
  • Previous utility industry experience required.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with field personnel, operations teams, and other stakeholders to coordinate and schedule work activities.
  • Experience with Oracle NMS is preferred.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge and understanding of switching procedures, safety tags, clearances, and grid operations.
  • Basic understanding of electrical theory and distribution system fundamentals.
