Role Responsibilities

The Operator C is responsible for the preparation of fermented mash in order to feed the distillery as required. This includes leading the fermentation process and timing associated with the setting of seed tanks, filling fermenters, addition of additives, collection of samples and Brix monitoring processes:

  • Set 1st and 2nd stage seed tanks and fill fermenters.
  • Monitor and maintain required sugar levels, nutrients, and antibiotics throughout the fermentation process.
  • Clean Seed tanks and Fermenters timely for filling; this includes performing CIP between tank filling and bleaching of rundown piping.
  • Sterilize various seed tanks in preparation for use.
  • Adjust mixtures of molasses and water to fill various vessels within the process.
  • Use and care of instrument/equipment used to measure Brix targets.
  • Transfer Molasses from big tanks to small tanks as needed.
  • Manage and maintain the production facility and equipment along with raw materials; weighing and preparation of components for production.
  • Maintaining equipment and materials used for fermentation, i.e., disassembling parts of tanks, cleaning, reassembling, and tracing lines.
  • Must demonstrate a high level of housekeeping standards and lead by example; strive to be 5S champion.
  • Perform minor maintenance tasks as needed.
  • Be a Safety Leader and be willing to mitigate hazards and report unsafe conditions.
  • Must be able to successfully complete LOTO training and adhere to all company rules pertaining to LOTO.
  • Must be able to maintain confined space certification and enter confined space as needed.
  • Must have experience working with hazardous chemicals and successfully complete a HAZWOPER course.
  • Adheres to and promotes quality, environmental, health, and safety as one of the organization's business priorities.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in process technology, chemical operations or similar field and at least 1 years proven experience or;
  • Associate's degree in chemical operations or related field, and at least 2 years proven experience or;
  • High School Diploma with at least 4 years of proven experience.
  • Must be able to handle and work with hazardous materials, rotating and loud machinery. Must be able to work on top of tanks, structures, platforms, and scaffolding as needed.
  • Must be reasonably fit; able to walk, stand or sit for prolonged periods or crouch for extended periods, lift 50 pounds and climb into motion-restricted areas.
  • Must be able to work in wet and/or humid conditions, excessive heat, and inclement weather.
  • Must be trained and willing to work in conditions/environments specific to the operation including confined space, fit test, and HAZMAT.
  • Must be willing and able to work flexible work hours including nights, weekends, holidays, and on-call; ability to effectively work in a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Must demonstrate a high level of housekeeping standards; Strive to be 5S champion.
  • Excellent interpersonal, conflict resolution, de-escalation, and problem-solving skills.
