This position is ideal for candidates with experience as a Controls Technician, BAS Technician, BMS Technician, Low Voltage Technician, Electrical Technician, Instrumentation Technician, Power Monitoring Technician, or SCADA Technician.
Position Overview
JSET Automated Technologies is seeking a Controls Technician to support Building Automation Systems (BAS), Building Management Systems (BMS), and Electrical Power Monitoring Systems (EPMS) throughout the Atlanta region.
This role involves installing, testing, troubleshooting, and commissioning control systems that support mission-critical infrastructure. The ideal candidate is comfortable working in active construction environments, collaborating with field teams, and supporting startup and commissioning activities.
While this position is based in the Atlanta area, candidates should be open to occasional regional travel to support projects as business needs require.
What You'll Do
  • Install, terminate, label, and verify low-voltage control wiring per project drawings and specifications
  • Read and interpret wiring diagrams, controls schematics, electrical one-lines, and network diagrams
  • Install and support field devices including sensors, controllers, meters, gateways, and network switches
  • Configure devices using laptops and approved software tools
  • Verify IP addressing, network connectivity, and device communications
  • Perform point-to-point checks, startup activities, functional testing, and quality verification
  • Troubleshoot electrical, communication, and controls-related issues
  • Repair or replace devices, sensors, and field wiring as needed
  • Coordinate with commissioning teams, engineers, project managers, and field leadership
  • Communicate drawing discrepancies, RFIs, and technical concerns to project leadership
  • Document installations, testing results, and device configurations
  • Track materials, equipment, and project requirements
  • Support inspections, turnover documentation, and punch-list completion
  • Follow OSHA requirements and site-specific safety procedures, including lockout/tagout practices
Required Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in controls, BAS/BMS, low voltage, electrical installation, industrial automation, or a related technical trade
  • Understanding of basic electrical theory and safe work practices
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, controls diagrams, and network documentation
  • Basic networking knowledge, including IP addressing and device communications
  • Comfortable using laptops for configuration, diagnostics, and firmware updates
  • Strong documentation and organizational skills
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
Preferred Qualifications
  • 2+ years of experience with controls installation, BMS, BAS, EPMS, or power monitoring systems
  • Experience with Niagara (Tridium), Distech, Ignition, or similar controls platforms
  • Experience supporting data center, mission-critical, industrial, manufacturing, or large commercial projects
  • Technical certification, associate degree, or vocational training in electrical, controls, automation, or IT-related fields
  • Exposure to SCADA systems, PLCs, industrial controls, or automation technologies
  • Experience supporting commissioning and startup activities
