Position Overview

We are looking for a dependable and detail-oriented Building Automation Installation Technician to join our Controls team. This role focuses on installing and supporting building automation systems across commercial, institutional, and industrial projects.

This position involves travel and hands-on fieldwork, where you'll help bring control systems to life by ensuring installations are completed accurately, safely, and in line with project specifications.


What You'll Do
  • Install BAS components including controllers, sensors, actuators, relays, panels, and communication wiring based on project drawings
  • Perform wiring terminations, continuity checks, and basic system verification
  • Assist with system startup and commissioning alongside engineers and programmers
  • Label and organize wiring and components for ease of maintenance and future service
  • Ensure all installations comply with NEC requirements, local regulations, and company standards
  • Support layout and mounting of panels, enclosures, and field devices
  • Coordinate with other trades (HVAC, electrical, mechanical) to ensure proper integration
  • Track materials used, labor hours, and any field changes
  • Follow all safety protocols, including PPE and jobsite guidelines
  • Participate in ongoing training to build technical expertise and advance within the company

Required Qualifications
  • 1-5 years of experience in BAS installation, controls, HVAC, or electrical work
  • Knowledge of low-voltage wiring and ability to follow wiring diagrams
  • Familiarity with communication protocols like BACnet, Modbus, LonWorks, or IP networks
  • Ability to read and interpret schematics, blueprints, and control sequences
  • Exposure to various BAS platforms is a plus
  • Basic understanding of controls systems and architecture
  • Valid driver's license and ability to pass background and drug screening
  • Strong communication and organizational skills

Preferred Experience
  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification
  • Experience bending conduit and assembling control panels
  • Knowledge of structured cabling (Cat5e, Cat6, fiber)
  • Familiarity with platforms such as Distech, Honeywell, JCI, or Niagara
  • Ability to assist with startup or perform basic programming tasks under supervision
