Job description

Title: Service Lead / Service Manager

Maitland, FL | Full-Time

Company Overview

Our client is a mechanical contractor based in the Orlando area and and serves commercial and institutional clients throughout Central Florida. They are currently expanding their service division and seeking a Service Lead / Service Manager to anchor that growth.

Position Summary

This is a working leadership role. The candidate will spend the majority of their time in the field performing commercial HVAC service work — including lead DX installations, chiller and VRF commissioning, VFD work, and building controls — while taking on increasing responsibility for department operations, scheduling, and team development as the division grows. This is not a desk role — deep hands-on technical ability is a primary requirement.

Key Responsibilities

Field

• Lead DX installations from rough-in through commissioning

• Commercial HVAC service, repair, and diagnostics

• Startup and commissioning of chillers, VRF systems, RTUs, AHUs, and split systems

• VFD programming, troubleshooting, and replacement

• Building controls and automation software — Niagara, Distech, Alerton, Reliable Controls, or equivalent

• Line set installation, thermostat and controls wiring, low-voltage hookup

• Ensure all work is completed to code and company quality standards

Leadership & Operations

• Oversee scheduling, dispatch, and day-to-day service operations

• Recruit, onboard, and develop service technicians as headcount grows

• Serve as primary customer contact for the service department

• Track and report on department performance metrics

Business Development

• Identify and pursue preventive maintenance agreements and service contracts

• Develop and maintain relationships with property managers, building owners, and GC partners

Required Qualifications

• 8+ years of hands-on commercial HVAC experience

• Demonstrated experience with chillers, VRF systems, and VFDs — must appear on resume

• Hands-on experience with building controls software — Niagara, Distech, Alerton, Reliable Controls, or equivalent

• Lead DX installation and commissioning experience

• Proven experience in a lead technician, foreman, or supervisory role

• EPA 608 Universal Certification

• Valid Florida driver's license, clean record

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with service software — ServiceTitan, FieldEdge, or similar

• Established relationships with commercial clients or property managers in Central Florida

• Demonstrated history of growing a service division or book of business

Benefits

• Performance bonus tied to service department results

• Medical, Dental, and Vision insurance

• 401(k) with company match

• PTO and paid holidays
