A growing Building Automation and HVAC Controls contractor is seeking a skilled BAS Controls Technician to support installation, commissioning, and system start-up throughout Ventura County and the surrounding coastal region. Role Overview

The BAS Controls Technician will work on new construction and renovation projects, performing installation, device terminations, equipment start-up, and system commissioning. You will work closely with project managers, electricians, HVAC teams, and commissioning agents to ensure that all controls components are installed correctly and function as intended.

Key Responsibilities
  • Install BAS/DDC components including controllers, sensors, actuators, VAV devices, and network hardware
  • Terminate low-voltage control wiring and verify field connections
  • Perform point-to-point checkout, functional testing, and equipment start-up
  • Load and adjust control programs under guidance from senior programmers
  • Create or modify system graphics, trends, and user-interface elements
  • Support integration using BACnet, Modbus, or LonWorks protocols
  • Document field conditions, changes, and commissioning results
  • Communicate effectively with project teams, contractors, and end users
Ideal Candidate Profile
  • Experience in BAS/DDC installation, commissioning, or HVAC controls work
  • Strong understanding of mechanical equipment, HVAC fundamentals, and control sequences
  • Ability to read wiring diagrams, schematics, and equipment submittals
  • Comfortable working on construction sites and in active mechanical areas
  • Solid troubleshooting abilities for field wiring and device-level issues
  • Valid California driver's license with a clean MVR
Preferred Experience
  • Exposure to platforms such as Tridium Niagara, Distech, Siemens, Alerton, or Johnson Controls
  • Experience commissioning VAV systems, AHUs, heat pumps, and RTUs
  • Background in retrofits or energy upgrade projects
  • Familiarity with Title 24 requirements (not required, but beneficial)
