General Summary

Under the supervision of the Training Center Manager, the Service Technical Training Instructor improves Kia dealership technician vehicle repair skills and Fixed Right First-Time performance through the effective delivery of performance-based technical training courses. These courses are delivered in the training centers or through distance learning.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

1st Priority - 65%

Prepare for and facilitate the effective delivery of technical training courses to Kia dealership technicians to improve vehicle repair skills and Fixed Right First-Time performance.  Monitor all classes to ensure safe work practices and procedures are followed at all times.  Administer the associated class participant enrollment processes and course completion records.

2nd Priority - 10%

Prepare the training center, vehicles, and tools/equipment as required prior to course delivery. Return the learning environment to its original state once training is completed.  Manage the coordination, administration, and delivery of distance learning.

3rd Priority - 10%

Maintain the inventory, control, usage, and maintenance of all training center resources including training vehicles, special service and hand tools, and other vehicle service and repair equipment.  Ensure training center meet standards for safety, condition, and maintenance.

4th Priority - 10%

Participate in the development of technical training curriculum as a subject matter expert.  Review draft materials, assist in the validation of content, ensure technical accuracy, and participate in training course pilot and Train-The-Trainer sessions.

5th Priority - 5%

Continuously improve automotive technical and facilitation skills to ensure delivery quality and effectiveness meet or exceed Kia University standards.
 

Personally Performed Duties

•    Facilitate performance- based training courses.
•    Conduct training course at the training centers or via distance learning.
•    Perform other duties as assigned.
 

Qualifications/Education

•    Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience required.
•    Automotive Technology degree preferred.

Job Requirement

Overall Related Experience: 
•    Must have a strong working knowledge and experience with the delivery of performance-based technical training curriculum.
•    Working knowledge of dealership service operations with technician work experience preferred.

Directly Related Experience:
•    5+ years teaching experience at the high school, college, adult education, or manufacturer/distributor level in a technical (automotive preferred) environment.
•    3 or more years of experience in the automotive industry preferred.

Other: 
•    ASE Master Automobile Technician (A1-A8), Advanced Engine Performance Specialist Certification (L1), and Light Duty Hybrid/Electric Vehicle Specialist Certification (L3)
•    Must have valid Driver’s License and maintain a responsible record that meets the criteria established by KUS.
•    May need to work additional hours outside of normal business hours as required by the job, including weekends or holidays.
•    Occasional travel is required domestically and/or internationally.

Specialized Skills and Knowledge Required

•    Strong communication and training facilitation skills utilizing effective adult learning techniques and performance-based methodologies.
•    The Service Technical Training Instructor must be able to analyze vehicle systems, components, and diagnostic strategies with moderate levels of complexity and deliver training courses with moderate levels of supervision. 
•    Proficient in MS Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook. Experience with distance learning platforms.
•    Must have the ability to prioritize and complete work assignments within a given schedule while maintaining high levels of service and support to regional and corporate operations.

Pay Range

$74,859.00 ~ $100,227.00

Pay will be based on several variables that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to, job-related skills, experience, relevant education or training, etc.
