Job description

SUMMARY:

The Sales Representative is responsible for all wet mine sand sales to existing and future customers locally, regionally and nationally via truck & rail. This role will maintain and develop relationships with current and potential customers, pursue quantitative sales targets for price/volume/mix and aid in the development of strategic plans to increase overall business profitability.

This position will require market analysis, competitor monitoring, regular customer site visits, software quote generation/tracking, monitoring/reporting of detailed sales activities & other administrative tasks. The Sales Representative will coordinate with Production & Quality Control to help achieve profitable sales/production yields.

The market area includes AL, GA & FL. Products include DOT concrete sand, commercial concrete sand, C20 sand, & gravel. Overnight travel is required (~35%). * Sales Representative will work out of offices located near either Gainesville, FL, or Macon, GA.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Regular communication with the existing customer base to help achieve customer satisfaction and quantitative business goals
  • Utilizes Excel to help analyze market, economic & customer data (including segment, location, volumes, pricing, comp., etc) to identify new opportunities
  • Ability to research customer segments & compile market data into an actionable plan for business enhancement
  • Provides quotes & negotiates with customers to secure business that aligns with Standard’s goals related to price, volume, mix and other factors
  • Reviews alignment of customer demand with operational capabilities on a regular basis & maintains an accurate sales forecast to help achieve alignment
  • Evaluates opportunities to increase sales via rail into existing/new markets
  • Constructive conflict resolution between customer needs & production limitations
  • Constructive interaction with other internal functions eg. Operations, QA / QC, accounting
  • Represent the company in a constructive, respectful, and professional manner
  • Work with operations to ensure that all specifications for products are understood and agreed prior to shipping product
  • Ensures fluid communication among all vested parties
  • Evaluates the consideration of product dispatch/delivery via third-party haulers
  • Assists in tracking daily/weekly customer sales volumes & pricing to help identify opportunities & concerns
  • Assists the Commercial Manager & Customer Service & Logistics Supervisor as needed

REQUIREMENTS:

  • B.S. Degree (Technical preferred)
  • 5+ Years Sales Experience
  • Industry or related industry (including other commodity sales) experience required
  • Fluent in MS Office applications, especially MS Excel
  • Ability to learn internal & external systems (e.g. Apex, dispatching software, Dodge,
  • etc.)
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in all communication and evaluations
  • Good written/oral communication skills & ability to effectively work cross?functionally
  • Ability to gather, critically evaluate data to identify meaningful trends & emerging issues
  • Ability to summarize complex information in support of fact-based decision making
  • Good interpersonal skills necessary for effective communication
  • Professional demeanor & customer attentiveness/timeliness/truthfulness/courtesy
  • Punctual and reliable on-site attendance (not a remote job opportunity)
  • Available as needed to customers & organization after hours/weekends
