Building Materials Driver
Location: Greater Baton Rouge, LA
Job Summary
We are seeking a dependable and safety-focused Building Materials Driver to join our team. This position is responsible for delivering brick, block, stone, pavers, masonry supplies, and other building materials to residential and commercial construction sites, contractors, dealers, and homeowners. The ideal candidate will safely operate company vehicles while ensuring accurate, timely deliveries and providing outstanding customer service.
This role requires a strong commitment to safety, attention to detail, and the ability to operate delivery equipment while working in a fast-paced construction supply environment.
Essential Responsibilities
  • Safely operate CDL delivery vehicles, including flatbed trucks, truck-mounted forklifts (Moffett), and other company equipment to transport building materials.
  • Deliver brick, concrete block, natural stone, pavers, retaining wall products, bagged masonry materials, and related construction supplies to customer locations.
  • Secure loads properly before transport and inspect cargo throughout the delivery process to ensure safe and damage-free deliveries.
  • Perform thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections and complete all required DOT logs and vehicle documentation.
  • Safely unload materials at customer locations using forklifts, truck-mounted forklifts, pallet jacks, or other approved equipment.
  • Verify delivery tickets and customer orders to ensure accuracy before unloading materials.
  • Communicate professionally with dispatch, yard personnel, and customers regarding delivery schedules, job site conditions, and any delivery concerns.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and well-maintained delivery vehicle, reporting maintenance issues promptly.
  • Follow all DOT regulations, OSHA requirements, and company safety policies.
  • Assist in the yard with loading, unloading, organizing inventory, and other operational duties when deliveries are complete.
  • Provide exceptional customer service while representing the company in a professional manner.
Qualifications
  • Valid Class A or Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with a clean driving record.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience operating flatbed trucks, boom trucks, truck-mounted forklifts (Moffett), or similar commercial delivery vehicles preferred.
  • Forklift and/or truck-mounted forklift (Moffett) experience preferred; certification is a plus.

  • Knowledge of DOT regulations, load securement requirements, and safe driving practices.
  • Familiarity with brick, block, stone, masonry, or other building materials is preferred.
  • Ability to safely lift 50 pounds regularly and handle heavier materials using proper equipment.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and customer service skills.
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including early mornings, evenings, and occasional weekends as business demands require.
