Summary / Primary Role

Odyssey Logistics is seeking a Dispatcher to coordinate freight shipments throughout the island of Oahu and manage interisland shipments traveling to and from Oahu.

The Dispatcher will communicate directly with drivers, customers, and internal operations teams to ensure pickups and deliveries are completed safely, professionally, efficiently, and on time. This role requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, sound judgment, and the ability to resolve transportation issues in a fast-paced logistics environment.

What Youโ€™ll Do

As a Dispatcher, you will play an essential role in keeping freight moving efficiently while supporting drivers, customers, and internal operations teams.

Dispatch and Route Coordination
  • Dispatch and check in drivers throughout the workday.

  • Assign drivers, tractors, trailers, and freight loads.

  • Plan and manifest driver route sequences.

  • Coordinate the movement of loads with dispatchers, warehouse personnel, and other operational teams.

  • Monitor pickups and deliveries to help ensure shipments are completed on schedule.

  • Adjust routes and assignments when delays, equipment issues, or operational changes occur.

Freight Pickup and Delivery Support
  • Receive and process customer freight pickup requests.

  • Coordinate and schedule freight delivery appointments when required.

  • Communicate shipment details, route instructions, and delivery requirements to drivers.

  • Work with drivers to resolve pickup, delivery, routing, or customer-related concerns.

  • Support the coordination of interisland freight moving to and from Oahu.

Problem Resolution and Customer Service
  • Troubleshoot Over, Short, and Damaged, or OS&D, freight issues.

  • Follow established procedures for returned products, pallets, eastbound freight, and other shipment exceptions.

  • Communicate professionally with customers, drivers, peers, and management.

  • Respond promptly to changing priorities and operational challenges.

  • Help identify practical solutions that support safe, timely, and profitable deliveries.

Documentation and Compliance
  • Ensure dispatch and transportation paperwork is completed accurately and on time.

  • Maintain driver logs and Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports, or DVIRs.

  • Update fuel, mileage, and driver hours-of-service records.

  • Support compliance with Department of Transportation Hours of Service requirements.

  • Enter and update customer shipment movements in TruckMate.

  • Maintain accurate freight, driver, route, and delivery records.

Administrative Responsibilities
  • Perform administrative tasks required to support daily dispatch operations.

  • Reconcile cash and checks collected by drivers.

  • Organize records, documents, and operational information.

  • Manage competing priorities and meet daily deadlines.

  • Perform additional duties and projects as assigned.

What You Bring
  • High School Diploma or GED required.

  • At least two years of dispatching experience.

  • Transportation, trucking, freight, or logistics industry experience preferred.

  • Knowledge of dispatch operations, route planning, freight movement, and driver coordination.

  • Knowledge of Department of Transportation Hours of Service regulations.

  • Hazardous Materials Certification preferred.

  • Experience using TruckMate or a similar transportation management system preferred.

  • Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating instructions, maintenance instructions, and procedural manuals.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • Ability to communicate effectively with drivers, customers, coworkers, and management.

  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Base Pay Range: $20.00โ€“$26.00 per hour

As required by applicable Hawaii pay transparency laws, Odyssey provides the minimum and maximum compensation range for this position. Actual compensation will be determined based on several job-related factors, including the candidateโ€™s relevant skills, experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other business considerations.

The compensation range for this position may be lower or higher in different markets.

Employees must work a minimum of 30 hours per week to maintain full-time status for benefits purposes. However, the expectations of this position require an average of 40 hours per week, with overtime required as scheduled.

No relocation assistance will be provided unless specifically approved and communicated as part of an employment offer.
