As Dispatch Manager, you will provide strategic leadership to a team of drivers as you optimize transportation planning and logistics, ensuring the safe and timely delivery of customer loads to destinations.

Your responsibilities will include:


Leadership and General Management

  • Provide leadership and oversee the drivers/leased operators in carrying out their responsibilities. Instill and maintain a positive, motivated work environment.
  • Plan, schedule and dispatch drivers as arranged with customers. Collaborate and maintain positive working relationships with both drivers and customers.
  • Mentor, coach and ensure drivers meet time and transportation goals.
  • Recruit and onboard drivers, monitor performance and provide mentorship as needed.
  • Complete weekly report cards, calculate drivers’ pay and coordinate time off requests.


Client Service

  • Build strong client relationships by accurately determining/meeting client needs and providing excellent service. Prepare and send quotes to customers using established rate sheets.
  • Meet deadlines and maintain open communication with clients to enhance customer satisfaction.
  • Conduct customer sales calls as required to obtain loads or to discuss issues.
  • Organize additional services as required.


Transportation Logistics

  • Optimize transportation logistics in the areas of efficiency, cost, and reliability with the goal of enhancing customer satisfaction and operational success.
  • Monitor service hours availability and service rules in US and Canada. Process border paperwork and obtain permits as required
  • Learn and maintain an up-to-date knowledge of geographical regions/routes, weights and dimensions, axle weights on highways, payloads, customs’ paperwork, inspections, standard operating procedures and office policies.
  • Coordinate arrangements, communicate and ensure accurate and timely information is entered into the system including customer orders/plans, truck dispatches and satellite tracking.


Management Reporting

  • Prepare reports, accounting information, sales reports and other data for the management and office team. Communicate and inform them of daily/weekly activities and targets.
  • Document and submit purchase orders to Accounting.
  • Enter/track information in the system, i.e. time schedules, client purchase orders/quotes, status, permits, weekly updates, weights, etc.


Maintenance and Repair

  • Conduct daily yard checks and truck/trailer investigations. Ensure company equipment is properly maintained with monthly grease schedule, washes, etc. Coordinate all repairs and deficiencies if required.
  • Complete incident reports; submit SGI claims when applicable.
  • Check weekly trailer inventory and audit hopper weights to ensure compliance


Provide after hours on call as required with company cell phone.


As the successful applicant, you will bring:

  • Ideally 5+ years dispatch/management experience. Previous logistics knowledge and experience in the transportation industry.
  • Related training and education in the transportation industry is an asset.
  • Demonstrated computer skills and willingness to learn and become proficient with new systems.
  • Strong initiative and ambitious self-starter committed to meeting expectations and targets. Enjoys going above and beyond to reach additional incentives offered on the job.
  • Above average communication skills, outgoing and converses with drivers. Customer focused to inform and maintain customer service at an optimum.
  • Good organizational and problem solving skills with the ability to complete tasks promptly.
  • Committed to conduct all business ethically and with integrity.



Monday to Friday, Hours 8:00-5:00; on call after hours as needed. No weekend work unless on call is required.


Excellent remuneration package including base salary plus monthly allowance for each truck under the position’s management, plus performance incentives, company pickup truck, parking and company benefits.
