Job description

The Protective Services Team is part of The Walt Disney Company’s Global Security organization. We can conduct, supervise, or coordinate Disney enterprise assistance and support by providing operational capabilities, technical expertise, and policy or procedural recommendations in the performance of crucial services along with The Walt Disney Company Global Security internal partners and The Walt Disney Company regional security teams, third party security vendors, law enforcement, government agencies and emergency services.

The Protective Services Senior Manager will employ functional expertise and a strong strategic and analytical approach in conducting the Protective Services program. We improve the value of centralized services, including key business partnerships and building consensus among business units. They will champion an atmosphere of trust and confidence through integrity, professionalism, and efficiency!

What You Will Do

  • Primary security service provider and coordinator for security support to the Senior Executive Leadership Team.
  • Work independently to provide and coordinate direct security support locally and on travel, communication with executive staff, security planning and risk assessments, scheduling Protective Services team members and external partners and management of workplace and residential security projects.
  • Lead sophisticated projects that may require policy recommendations and written briefs for executive leadership as well as the coordination and implementation of findings for senior executives and staff.
  • Independently plan and handle security trips as a team lead or as a team member.
  • Manage relationships with authorities who are in position to provide insight or influence regarding security matters of importance to the company.
  • Primary point of contact for executive staff for management of matters relating to the security of senior executive leadership.
  • Responsible for the day-to-day performance and supervision of executive protection activities which includes the development, mentorship, and implementation of protective security policies and procedures.
  • Provide advice, plan support and schedule internal team members and external partners.
  • Conduct comprehensive risk assessments by developing methods and requirements to standardize, analyze, communicate, and mitigate potential threats.
  • Partner with The Walt Disney Company Sourcing and Procurement, Labor Relations, and Legal teams in identifying bonded, insured and licensing compliant third-party security vendors.
  • Directly supervise and conduct assessments of third-party security vendor compliance to established security requirements, licensing, training, and efficiency
  • Establish relationships and improve business processes to identify partner needs, identify potential gaps, and improve The Walt Disney Company security culture.
  • Maintain consistent and timely communication by promptly responding to emails, messages, and phone calls. Ensure company-issued devices are monitored and accessible to support dynamic operational needs and scheduling adjustments.
  • Continually searches for ways to improve and to position the organization for future success.

Required Qualifications & Skills

  • 10 plus years of confirmed experience in positions of growing responsibility within private sector corporate security or a related public sector, government agency or military organization, including 5 years of supervisory experience.
  • Valid California Bureau of Security and Investigative Services (BSIS) Security Guard License
  • Valid California Driver’s License
  • Ability to remain calm under stressful driving conditions and experience with defensive driving tactics and training
  • Experience leading protective security details in the United States and abroad
  • Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Confirmed experience conducting security advances, planning, and leading special events, investigations, and risk assessments.
  • Demonstrated track record of partnering with various organizations within a large global corporate environment to achieve specific goals and objectives.
  • Strong strategic and operational capabilities with experience assessing and implementing operational contingency plans based on risk.
  • Solid understanding of physical security systems to include, but not limited to intrusion detection systems, CCTV, alarm monitoring systems, communications devices, and other security related software/hardware.
  • Working knowledge of event security as required to conduct, assessments and provide recommendations and/or implement the security measures needed to protect VIPs, events, facilities, and intellectual property.
  • Demonstrates resiliency, good judgment, and tact in dealing with business and corporate challenges.
  • Attention to accuracy as well as the ability to work under pressure, consistently meet deadlines, and prioritize according to business needs.
  • Demonstrate flexibility and adaptability with work hours to include weekends, night times and travel as required.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree or international equivalent (or equivalent experience)

Preferred Qualifications and Education

  • Possess the event security experience and skills necessary to assist the Production Security team when needed with security matters affecting productions or events, production executives, production management, VIPs, crew, and vendors.
  • Strong cross-group collaboration and relationship leadership skills including advising and coordinating remote teams to achieve deliverables
  • Advanced degree or certificate or international equivalent

The hiring range for this position in Burbank, CA is $153,200 to $205,400 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
