Position Summary

Under the oversight of the Manager Electrical Technical Operations, responsible for all electrical and maintenance aspects of company's fleet and Island.

Responsibilities
  • Assists with departmental budgets for areas of responsibilities.

  • Liaison with USCG, classification societies,, and USPH for areas of responsibility.

  • Oversees compliance with technical aspects of applicable Flag State, Port State, international, and classification society resolutions and requirements, including CSM.

  • Oversees maintenance of specified ships and private resorts and proper documentation in company-approved maintenance system.

  • Provides the continuous availability ashore for shipboard support for Electrical Systems, Machinery Alarm and Control Systems, Navigation Equipment and Telecommunication Systems.

  • Manages vendors, onboard teams and installation technicians to see that Company standards are maintained during installation or repair of system components in area of responsibility.

  • Maintains Electrical and related operational standards for the Engineering department.

  • Sees that corrective and preventive action is taken on issues within area of responsibility.

  • Maintains shore-based library of technical information about each vessel in the fleet.

  • Carries out ship walks including Vessel Assessments and SQS Architectural Lighting.

  • Approves, maintains and verifies compliance with LOG policies and procedures in onboard departments for which responsible.

Safety Management System (SMS) Responsibilities:
  • Implementation of the general safety management responsibilities in SMS.

  • Responsible for implementing Safety Management System policies and procedures relative to areas of responsibilities. Makes sure the operating procedures pertaining to both shipboard and shore-based Technical operating practices are in place and functioning in compliance with the SMS.

  • Responsible for Maintenance and repairs of Satellite Systems throughout the Disney Cruise Line Fleet.

  • Provides shore-based assistance for Masters and their Officers to maintain safe ship operations.

  • Maintains regular communication with Chief Engineers and Chief Electrical Engineers on issues within area of responsibility.

  • Run monthly status reports on overdue maintenance including key equipment.

  • Coordinates with Marine Operations ongoing and planned matters relevant to Global Maritime Distress and Safety System (GMDSS) and other radio communications.

  • Coordinated with Marine Nautical Operations ongoing and planned matters relevant to Electronic aids to Navigation.

  • Provide technical support to Entertainment, Disney Cruise Line Telecom, Disney Cruise Line Technology, Safety, Security and Environmental Policy and Compliance.

  • Supports dry-docks for marine and technical machinery control systems.

  • Participates in Monthly Meetings for key equipment vendors

  • Assists and keeps the Executive Director Technical Operations and Senior Manager Electrical Technical Operations informed of ongoing and planned matters relevant to issues and materials in the SMS.

Required Qualifications

  • At least five years of experience in seagoing operations and/or ship management within marine or industrial engineering.

  • Demonstrated experience with Hazardous areas installations and operations.

  • Strong understanding of electrical distribution, control systems, and automation including maintenance practices.

  • Experience interpreting and applying Flag State, Port State, classification society, and international maritime regulations.

  • Ability to manage vendors, contractors, and technical teams.

  • Excellent troubleshooting and diagnostic skills for shipboard electrical, navigation, and telecommunication systems.

  • Strong communication skills with ability to interface with shipboard and shoreside stakeholders

  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally as needed, including supporting drydocks and vessel inspections.

  • Proficiency with maintenance management systems (e.g., CMMS).

  • Strong documentation and compliance reporting skills.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Demonstrated experience working within the cruise industry.

  • Professional training in maritime Regulations.

Education
  • Relevant Electrical Engineering Degree; or equivalent working experience.

The hiring range for this position in Celebration, FL is $110,000.00-$147,500.00 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate's geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
