Job description

Overview
The Network Repair Technician III is an experienced field role responsible for the on-site installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of network infrastructure at multi-dwelling unit (MDU) properties served by the company. Building on Tech II competencies, this role adds fiber-optic work, point-to-point (PTP) wireless installations, and independent network troubleshooting. The Tech III resolves the majority of field issues without NOC assistance and serves as a senior on-site presence on multi-tech dispatches and as a mentor to Tech I and Tech II staff.
To be considered, candidates should live within the Orlando area or within a commutable distance. When not working in the Orlando area you will travel regionally. 75%+ travel.
Responsibilities
  • Respond to NOC-dispatched tickets for outages, degraded service, and customer-impacting issues at MDU properties, meeting defined response and restoration SLAs.
  • Troubleshoot independently across Layer 1 and Layer 2 issues including copper, coax, fiber, switches, and access points; resolve the majority of incidents without NOC escalation.
  • Perform fiber-optic work including identification, handling, cleaning, and basic testing using light meters and OTDR equipment.
  • Install, align, and commission point-to-point (PTP) wireless links between MDU buildings, roof-to-roof shots, and inter-property connections.
  • Adopt and stage Juniper access points and switches into the appropriate management platforms; perform Ruckus and Juniper Mist AP installation, configuration, and basic management.
  • Conduct post-installation testing and validation including speed tests, wireless coverage walks, and video signal verification.
  • Perform basic video and satellite dish work including signal level checks, coax verification, and dish pointing.
  • Use managed switch CLI for show and diagnostic commands; assist with VLAN, port, and PoE-level troubleshooting.
  • Coordinate live with the NOC during dispatch and on-site work; provide clear status updates and confirm restoration before clearing the site.
  • Escalate controller-level configuration changes, complex routing or BGP issues, and carrier-circuit faults to Network Engineering with complete, accurate field data.
  • Maintain and update site documentation including rack diagrams, cable labeling, AP location maps, and as-built records following each visit.
  • Serve as on-site lead on multi-tech dispatches when assigned; mentor Tech I and Tech II staff in the field.
  • Manage assigned vehicle inventory, test equipment, and spares; keep tools calibrated, stocked, and in good working order.
  • Interact professionally with property management, building staff, and residents.
  • Comply with all company safety procedures including ladder, lift, electrical, ESD, and confined-space practices.
  • Participate in an on-call rotation for after-hours, weekend, and holiday emergency dispatches as scheduled.

Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 3-5 years of hands-on experience in ISP/MSP, telecom, or structured cabling environments, including fiber and PTP work.
  • Intermediate working knowledge of TCP/IP, VLANs, and basic routing concepts.
  • Demonstrated ability to terminate, test, and certify CAT5e/CAT6 cabling at an advanced level.
  • Hands-on experience with fiber identification, handling, and basic testing.
  • Proven independent troubleshooting and root-cause analysis ability in the field.
  • Hands-on experience with Ruckus and Juniper Mist access points; ability to adopt and stage Juniper APs and switches.
  • Comfort with managed switch CLI for show and diagnostic commands.
  • Comfort working in IDF/MDF closets, ceiling spaces, and on ladders or lifts; ability to lift and move equipment up to 50 lbs.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record; ability to be insured under the company vehicle policy.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to produce clear ticket notes and as-built updates.
  • Ability to pass a background check and drug screening.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Fiber-optic certifications such as BICSI Installer with fiber endorsement or Fluke fiber-test certification.
  • Industry certifications such as CompTIA Network+, Ruckus WISE/RASZA, or Juniper Mist AI.
  • Familiarity with documentation and monitoring tools such as NetBox, LibreNMS, PRTG, or vendor cloud dashboards.
  • Familiarity with Ekahau or comparable wireless survey tools.

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements
  • Field-based role with daily travel between MDU properties in the assigned service territory using a company-provided vehicle.
