Job Duties and Responsibilities

Staff Engineer - RF/Wireless (Dish Network LLC, Englewood, Colorado)

Development of RF/wireless system architecture strategies for next-generation outdoor unit (ODU) platforms, satellite/DBS technologies, and emerging wireless communication systems (10%); define technical roadmaps for RF subsystem integration, interoperability, scalability, reliability, and lifecycle sustainability across multiple product lines (10%); operate as a principal technical lead for advanced RF research development initiatives, independently identifying technical gaps, evaluating emerging technologies, and establishing engineering direction for future product development efforts (10%); system-level integration of RF subsystems with hardware, firmware, software, manufacturing, and test environments to ensure optimized product performance and cross-platform compatibility (10%); develop engineering specifications, feasibility analyses, technical proposals, and architecture recommendations supporting next generation wireless technologies and strategic product initiatives (10%); perform advanced RF modeling, electromagnetic simulation, and performance optimization activities using tools including Ansys HFSS, Keysight ADS, and related simulation platforms (10%); define RF performance requirements and evaluate design tradeoffs related to interoperability, reliability, manufacturability, interference mitigation, impedance matching, and regulatory compliance (8%); conduct and oversee system-level validation activities utilizing Vector Network Analyzers (VNAs), spectrum analyzers, and related laboratory instrumentation to verify RF performance objectives (6%); identify and mitigate complex system-level integration risks, including signal degradation, parasitic effects, interoperability limitations, and cross-platform performance issues (5%); establish technical standards and best practices for RF architecture, simulation, integration, validation, and production readiness across engineering teams and product platforms (5%); coordinate technical development activities among RF, firmware, software, systems, manufacturing, and test engineering teams to support product release objectives (5%); present technical strategies, architecture decisions, integration risks, performance findings, and product roadmap recommendations to executive leadership and cross-functional stakeholders (4%); provide technical leadership regarding RF system architecture, integration methodologies, advanced simulation techniques, and performance optimization activities (4%); and support certification and compliance readiness activities by incorporating regulatory and system-level requirements into RF architecture and integration planning (3%). Salary: $152,443 - 157,300 per year.

Skills, Experience and Requirements

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s degree or U.S. equivalent in Electronic Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field, plus 6 years of professional experience as a RF or Hardware Engineer or any occupation, job title, position involving RF/wireless system design, simulation, integration, testing, and performance optimization.


Must also have experience in the following: 6 years of professional experience in RF and microwave circuit and system design, including RF transmitters, front-end circuits, filters, power amplifiers, low-noise amplifiers, impedance matching networks, baluns, and wireless link budget optimization for frequencies ranging from low GHz through mmWave frequencies; 6 years of professional experience using RF simulation and modeling tools, including Keysight ADS, Cadence AWR,HFSS, and CST Studio Suite; 6 years of professional experience designing, testing, and optimizing RF communication systems and wireless protocols, including DVB-S/S2X, Wi-Fi(802.11), Bluetooth/BLE, ZigBee/RF4CE,and LoRa; 6 years of professional experience performing RF testing, characterization, and validation using laboratory instrumentation, including vector network analyzers (VNA),spectrum analyzers, signal generators, and power meters; 6 years of professional experience analyzing RF performance metrics, including SNR,BER/MER/PER, EVM, noise figure, harmonics, spurious emissions, ACPR, and interference mitigation for RF and wireless systems; 6 years of professional experience performing RF circuit optimization, debugging, validation, and system-level performance analysis, including antenna integration, impedance matching, and mitigation of parasitic effects; 3 years of professional experience developing automated RF test solutions using LabVIEW, NI TestStand, Python, JavaScript, and C/C++; and 3 years of professional experience preparing RF engineering documentation, including BOMs, validation reports, test procedures, design specifications, PCB fabrication guidance, tuning procedures, and product qualification documentation.
