Job description

GREAT X-RAY TECH NEEDED! NO NIGHTS, NO WEEKENDS AND NO HOLIDAYS!

The Radiologic Technologist will provide radiologic images as directed by the physician, nurse, or other clinician, maintain radiology equipment and supplies and assist physicians and clinical staff as needed. This position is a PRN position. 

MINIMUM ESSENTIAL JOB REQUIREMENTS

Patient Services

  • Greet and escort patients from the exam room to the appropriate radiology room
  • Verify that the examination order was submitted correctly in EMR prior to performing the x-ray examination
  • Prepare patients for x-ray by positioning them in the way that causes the least discomfort; instruct patients how to position their body appropriately, hold their breath
  • Obtain clear images of the anatomy requested by the provider, using appropriate safety precautions and wearing protective equipment and radiation dosimeter at all times
  • Capture, process and transmit images according to protocol
  • Return patient to the exam room after the x-ray examination is complete

Radiologic Preparation and Equipment Maintenance

  • Import outside exams into the PACS system as they are delivered to the practice
  • Take inventory of radiology stock and communicate supply shortages to supervisor
  • Ensure radiology equipment is in good working order and notify supervisor of any maintenance issues immediately
  • Perform routine maintenance and safety checks on x-ray equipment to ensure that equipment complies with regulatory requirements
  • Clean the exam room after each patient exam
  • Transfers images to a disc for use outside the office, as requested 
  • Maintain written safety procedures for the use of radiologic equipment, as well as proper procedures for patient safety; create written procedures as needed
  • Comply with all OSHA mandates for dosimeter readings and quality assurance

  • Maintain knowledge of the specific anatomical views preferred by each provider
  • Participate in professional development activities and maintain professional affiliations
  • Maintain patient confidentiality; comply with HIPAA, OSHA and other compliance guidelines established by regulation or by the practice
  • Maintain detailed knowledge of EMR and other computer software as it relates to job functions
  • Attend annual CPR, OSHA, and risk management training programs 
  • Prepare for and attend all staff and team meetings as requested
  • Adhere to the Team Member Handbook and other policies and procedures as they are developed
  • Perform other tasks and projects assigned by manager 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND COMPETENCY REQUIREMENTS

  • High school diploma required
  • Successful completion of an accredited Radiology program
  • ARRT license required
  • Full-scope X-ray Operator license from State of Tennessee required
  • Experience taking and transmitting radio-graphic images
  • Working knowledge of managed care basics and experience working with a managed care and Medicare population
  • Working knowledge of electronica medical records and word processing software 
  • Comfortable using email and interacting with Internet applications
  • Knowledge of practice management and word processing software
