What is the Opportunity?
Join RBC's Group Risk Management team as Director, Business Continuity Risk Management (BCRM) for Canada & Caribbean. In this second line of defense role, you will lead the implementation and oversight of our BCRM program across the region. You'll direct a team to strengthen operational resilience, ensure regulatory compliance, embed robust risk management practices, and partner with business leaders to drive program effectiveness and adoption.

What will you do?

Lead Your Team & Drive Strategy

  • Direct and mentor a team responsible for BCRM program execution across Canada and Caribbean regions
  • Contribute to and execute the BCRM vision, strategy, and operating model specific to your region
  • Ensure alignment with RBC Enterprise BCRM Policy & Standards and regulatory requirements
  • Identify emerging operational risks and direct research into areas of elevated risk
  • Build a high-performing culture focused on operational excellence and risk awareness

Lead Oversight & Control

  • Provide independent oversight and challenge at senior levels, a critical responsibility of our second line of defense
  • Manage comprehensive monitoring, oversight, and control programs covering all key BCRM requirements
  • Conduct thematic reviews and policy adherence monitoring assessments to drive continuous improvement
  • Oversee remediation of identified issues with accountability and rigor
  • Provide oversight on the design and effectiveness of internal control environment

Provide Expert Advice & Insights

  • Advise senior management and executives on BCRM risk mitigation strategies and emerging industry trends
  • Represent RBC with regulators as a trusted business continuity risk management subject matter expert
  • Generate actionable risk insights and reporting that directly inform executive decision-making
  • Support implementation of operational risk management initiatives across the region

Build Stakeholder Partnerships

  • Foster collaborative relationships with business leaders to drive program adoption and effectiveness
  • Enable first line of defense in establishing appropriate operational risk appetite aligned with strategic objectives
  • Champion risk management behaviors and accountability across all lines of defense

Engage Externally

  • Participate in industry committees, forums, and BCRM associations to stay current with leading practices

What do you need to succeed?

Must Have:

  • Proven track record of leading and developing high-performing teams
  • Proven BCRM experience in financial services or highly regulated industries, with demonstrated success in large-scale global matrix environments
  • Deep understanding of risk management frameworks, control environments, and governance structures
  • In-depth knowledge of regulatory requirements (OSFI) and compliance expectations
  • Ability to balance competing priorities with exceptional time management and results orientation
  • Strong analytical and data-driven mindset with the ability to translate data into strategic insights
  • Excellent critical thinking skills with demonstrated ability to challenge assumptions at senior levels
  • Strong interpersonal, relationship-building, and communication capabilities
  • Strong facilitation and presentation skills; demonstrated ability to engage senior executives and committees
