Job description

Hunger Strike Force – Virginia Beach, VA

Operation Blessing (OB) is seeking a hands-on, organized Fleet Maintenance Coordinator to coordinate maintenance for all Hunger Strike Force (HSF) vehicles & equipment and OB commercial vehicles & heavy-duty construction equipment (HDE). This professional will ensure commercial equipment adherence to DOT federal guidelines and HDE dependability and readiness at all times. Serving in this position facilitates ministry activities and contributes to OB’s Biblical mission to extend a helping hand in Christ’s name to meet physical and spiritual needs.

The salary range for this position is $55,000-$63,500 annually. Final compensation within this range will be determined based on a combination of education, relevant experience, and demonstrated skills aligned with the role requirements.

The successful candidate will have the following qualifications:

  • Experience with commercial vehicles, heavy-duty equipment, and DOT compliance is strongly preferred
  • Exceptional communication skills, both oral and written, with the ability to convey information clearly and professionally across all organization levels
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented, capable of managing complex logistics and maintaining accurate records
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite, with advanced knowledge of Excel and working experience in Microsoft Access for data analysis and reporting
  • Coordinate and execute monthly preventive maintenance schedules
  • Oversee regulatory compliance for HSF commercial vehicles and OB HDE in partnership with equipment compliance support staff
  • Provide on-site corrective maintenance for HDE to ensure operational readiness and rapid issue resolution
  • Ensure commercial equipment adherence to FMCSA regulations and applicable DOT/OSHA standards
  • Maintain meticulous maintenance records, inspection logs, and service documentation to support audits and compliance
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with operations and leadership to schedule maintenance, reduce downtime, and meet project deadlines
  • Participate in regular compliance training, classes, and industry seminars to stay current on regulations and best practices
  • Willing and able to travel at least one week per month and meet the physical demands of the role (standing, walking, bending, lifting; fine motor/manual dexterity), while supporting organizational values and spiritual activities
  • Demonstrate life application of Biblical principles and practices in alignment with OB’s nonprofit Christian mission

Required licenses, certifications, education, or experience:

  • Excellent driving record required; CDL ‘A’ within first 180 days of employment
  • Forklift certification preferred and required within first 90 days of employment
  • ASE Certification preferred, recently expired credentials sufficient
  • Commercial Crane Operator’s License preferred and required within first 360 days of employment
