The Career Coach provides job readiness trainings to individuals with disabilities that focus on basic skills needed to obtain employment in the community. The Career Coach provides on the job training and pre-employment job readiness skills to participants. The Career Coach provides trainings and information to employer partners regarding working effectively with individuals with disabilities. The Career Coach is responsible for developing strong job leads and job placement assistance to participants. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated skills as a Career Coach to initiate and sustain collaborative working relationships with a variety of businesses in the greater Boston area. This individual must have a strong knowledge about issues related to individuals with significant barriers to employment. The Career Coach is part of a larger JVS team that supports employment, training and education needs of clients and employers. ย

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:ย 
Accountability and Results Focusedย 
  • Assist participants in both one-on-one and group settings in job search-related activitiesย 
  • As needed, escort participants to job interviews and facilitate interview and hiring processย 
  • Provide post-placement services including follow-up with job-seeker and employerย 
  • Develop curricula and provide trainings and classroom instruction on essential skills needed to enhance employabilityย 
  • Scheduling flexibility in order to meet clientโ€™s career searching or in person job coaching needsย 
  • Use strategic, structured, and systematic intervention techniques (IE: Task Analysis) to assist the participants in learning to perform job tasks to employer specificationsย 

Build relationships, collaboration and teamwork:ย 
  • Actively develop new and maintain existing employer relationships ย 
  • Develop a solid understanding of the employerโ€™s needs and the specific job tasksย 
  • Communicate and collaborate with clientsโ€™ families and support staff ย 
  • Developing a strong understanding of other departments at JVS and becoming a key contributor to the organizationโ€™s missionย 

Administrative/Communication:ย 
  • Monitor and evaluate program effectivenessย 
  • Monitor, assess, and document client progressย 
  • Organize and maintain files and recordsย 
  • Perform other duties as assigned or requestedย 
ย 
MINIMIUM QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:ย  ย  ย 
  • 1-3 years of experience in workforce development or related field desiredย 
  • 1-3 years of experience in working with individuals with barriers to employment desiredย 
  • Associate's or bachelor's degree in Human Services or other related field requiredย 
  • A deep commitment to disability inclusion in the workforce requiredย 
  • An understanding of job development and job placement desiredย 
  • Flexibility with in-person services and local travel requiredย 
  • Ability to work effectively with staff and clients from diverse cultural, socio-economic, ethnic, and educational backgrounds is requiredย 
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite requiredย 
  • Strong interpersonal, communication and organizational skills are requiredย 
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team is requiredย 
  • Knowledge of virtual meeting platforms preferredย 
  • Fluency in Spanish language highly preferredย 
  • Knowledge of community resources and web-based resources preferredย 
  • Knowledge of the disability rights movement and/or self-advocacy movements desiredย 

EDUCATION REQUIRED: ย 
  • BA/BS and/or Associates Degree in Human Services, Business Administration or related field. ย
