Reports To: Camp Food Services Coordinator / Camp Directorย 

Position Summary

The League for People with Disabilities is seeking an energetic, dependable, and compassionate Part-Time Seasonal Kitchen Assistant to support meal preparation and food service operations within our inclusive camp program. This position plays an important role in creating a safe, welcoming, and positive dining experience for children and adults with disabilities participating in camp activities.

The Kitchen Assistant will help prepare meals and snacks, maintain cleanliness and sanitation standards, assist with kitchen organization, and support campers' dietary needs while promoting dignity, inclusion, and respect for every participant.

This is an excellent opportunity for individuals who enjoy working in a team-oriented environment and want to make a meaningful impact during the camp season.


Essential Responsibilities
  • Assist with preparing and serving breakfast, lunch, snacks, and beverages for campers and staff
  • Support kitchen staff with food prep including washing, cutting, portioning, and organizing ingredients
  • Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of kitchen equipment, counters, dining areas, and food storage spaces
  • Wash dishes, utensils, cookware, and kitchen equipment in accordance with health and safety guidelines
  • Help monitor and organize food inventory, supplies, and storage areas
  • Follow all food safety, allergy awareness, and sanitation procedures
  • Assist with accommodating participant dietary restrictions and special meal requests
  • Ensure dining spaces remain welcoming, safe, and inclusive for all campers
  • Support setup and breakdown of meal service areas
  • Remove trash and recycling and maintain overall kitchen cleanliness
  • Work collaboratively with camp staff to ensure smooth daily operations
  • Maintain confidentiality and professionalism when interacting with campers, families, and staff
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support camp operations

Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Previous kitchen, food service, cafeteria, camp, or hospitality experience preferred
  • Experience working with individuals with disabilities is a plus
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and team-oriented environment
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to follow instructions and maintain sanitation standards
  • Reliable, punctual, and flexible with scheduling
  • Must demonstrate patience, compassion, and professionalism

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 30 pounds
  • Ability to bend, stoop, reach, and move throughout kitchen and dining areas
  • Ability to work in warm kitchen environments
