Who You Are
The Principal Project Manager serves as the senior project execution authority within DIRTT's Project Execution organization. Acting as a player-coach, this role leads the delivery of the company's most complex, and strategic projects while establishing execution standards across the project portfolio. The Principal Project Manager drives excellence in project controls, forecasting, risk management, field execution, customer satisfaction, and cross-functional coordination.
Through influence, expertise, and leadership, this role develops project management capability, resolves critical project challenges, and partners with Solutions Design, Order Engineering, Manufacturing, Logistics, and Installation teams to ensure predictable project outcomes, operational readiness, and sustained margin performance.
What You'll Do
Project Risk & Complexity Management
  • Lead risk identification, mitigation, and escalation efforts for DIRTT's highest-risk projects.
  • Facilitate formal project risk reviews during turnover, design completion, manufacturing release, site mobilization, and project closeout.
  • Identify commercial, operational, manufacturing, logistics, and installation risks before they impact project performance.
  • Partner with Solutions Design teams to crystallize project complexity and ensure execution strategies appropriately address risk.
  • Develop recovery strategies for challenged projects and support implementation.
  • Serve as the escalation point for project teams requiring additional support.

Schedule Management & Delivery Planning
  • Lead planning efforts for DIRTT strategic projects and programs.
  • Establish project execution plans that align customer requirements, manufacturing commitments, logistics activities, and field installation activities.
  • Facilitate schedule reviews and recovery planning sessions for profiled projects.
  • Coach project teams on critical path management, look-ahead planning, constraint management, and schedule recovery techniques.
  • Review schedules for quality, realism, resource alignment, and execution risk.
  • Develop scheduling standards and planning best practices across the organization.
  • Validate readiness at key project milestones including turnover, design completion, manufacturing release, shipment, site mobilization, and project closeout.
  • Support cross-functional coordination to ensure commitments remain aligned throughout project execution.

Field Execution Excellence
  • Conduct regular project reviews and on DIRTT projects.
  • Review installation progress, quality, safety, schedule adherence, and constraint management activities.
  • Validate alignment between approved design intent, manufactured product, and field installation.
  • Support project teams in removing barriers impacting execution performance.
  • Facilitate lessons learned reviews and ensure corrective actions are implemented.
  • Partner with installation teams and distribution partners to improve field execution consistency and customer outcomes.

Project Accounting
  • Serve as the project execution lead for project accounting practices and controls.
  • Support resolution of billing, cost allocation, retention, and contract administration issues.
  • Coach project managers on project accounting fundamentals and financial stewardship.
  • Identify recurring financial management issues and recommend process improvements.
  • Partner with Finance to improve project accounting workflows and reporting.

Forecasting Financials
  • Own the reporting structure and cadence for accounting of DIRTT Direct portfolio.
  • Serve as the forecasting subject matter expert for the project execution team. Review and challenge forecasts developed by Project Managers and Senior Project Managers.
  • Identify portfolio-level trends, risks, and opportunities and recommend corrective actions.
  • Coach project teams on forecasting methodologies, cost-to-complete analysis, and margin management.
  • Develop best practices, templates, and forecasting standards.
  • Partner with leadership to improve forecast accuracy across the organization.

Project Scheduling
  • Lead planning efforts on the DIRTT's most complex projects.
  • Facilitate schedule reviews and recovery planning sessions for high-profile or high-risk projects.
  • Coach project managers on critical path management, look-ahead planning, and schedule recovery techniques.
  • Review schedules for quality, realism, and execution risk.
  • Develop scheduling standards and planning best practices.
  • Support cross-functional coordination between engineering, manufacturing, logistics, and field operations.

Stakeholder Communication
  • Lead stakeholder engagement on strategic, complex, or sensitive projects.
  • Support project teams in navigating difficult customer situations and escalations.
  • Coach project managers on communication, negotiation, and conflict resolution.
  • Facilitate alignment between clients, operations, manufacturing, and field teams.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to project teams during challenging project situations.
  • Promote consistency in customer communication and stakeholder management practices.

Coaching, Mentorship & Organizational Development
  • Lead the organization's most complex, strategic, or challenged projects.
  • Conduct project health reviews across the portfolio.
  • Coach Project Managers and Senior Project Managers on forecasting, project accounting, scheduling, stakeholder management, and risk mitigation.
  • Support major customer escalations and executive-level project discussions.
  • Identify systemic execution challenges impacting project performance.
  • Drive standardization of project management processes, tools, methodologies, and governance practices.
  • Develop and promote best practices that improve consistency, predictability, and project outcomes across the organization.

Knowledge & Experience
  • Lead the organization's most complex, strategic, or challenged projects.
  • Establish and continuously improve project execution best practices.
  • Conduct project health reviews across the portfolio.
  • Facilitate forecast reviews and schedule recovery planning.
  • Coach PMs and SPMs on financial management, scheduling, stakeholder management, and risk mitigation.
  • Support major customer escalations and executive-level project discussions.
  • Identify systemic execution challenges impacting project performance.
  • Drive standardization of project management processes, tools, and methodologies.
  • Partner with Solutions Design, Order Engineering, Manufacturing, and Field Operations leadership to improve delivery performance.
  • Serve as the Director's delegate for project execution initiatives.

  • 12+ years of progressive project delivery experience.
  • Recognized subject matter expert in project execution.
