Re-posted 5 days ago

Job description

Pro Athlete is seeking an experienced and visionary Brand Manager/Director/Creative Leader to create, define, and execute the strategic direction for our portfolio of brands, including in-house private label brands, exclusives, branding our loyalty program, and building the strategy behind the things that are unique to our brand. This leader will own the creative brand strategy, ensuring consistency, alignment with business objectives, and a resonant connection with target audiences. The ideal candidate will act as the brand-focused creative and strategic steward of our brands, shaping their stories and ensuring they are represented compellingly across all channels.
This role will partner closely with senior leadership, marketing, product development, and creative teams to deliver a cohesive brand experience. As a cross-functional leader, the Brand Manager/Director will oversee all aspects of brand positioning, creative execution, and customer perception while driving innovative storytelling and ensuring brand integrity.
Who we are:

We are an eCommerce company that specializes in creating a World Class customer and employee experience and we happen to sell sporting goods and apparel through various online platforms such as JustBats, JustGloves, JustPaddles, Field General, and our private label brands. We have a Major League caliber culture, we have a passion for what we do, and we love to have fun. No, really, we LOVE TO HAVE FUN!
Alignment with our Core Values is a must! Please do not apply if you don't believe in our Core Values or don't plan on living them out to their fullest. We receive a lot of applicants, so do your best to separate yourself from the rest. Do something to "wow" us and get us excited about the potential of you joining our team!
How We Play the Game:
  • We live out our Core Values
  • We have genuine curiosity
  • We make every detail matter
  • We have each other's backs
  • We take the high road
  • We are operationally predictable with no surprises
  • We stay connected
  • We hold each other accountable
  • We put our pride aside
  • We create a drama-free work zone
  • We never get complacent

Essential Roles & Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement the overarching brand strategy and vision for all brands (private label and retail), setting and enforcing the brand guidelines and guiding the vision for each brand.
  • The Brand Manager/Director is responsible for the strategy, not the visuals.
  • Align creative efforts with consumer insights and market trends.
  • Work with an in-house marketing team to create or refine each brands' customer persona - helping to determine who the customer is and what products they want.
  • Partner with senior leadership to ensure brand strategies align with organizational goals and resonate with target audiences.
  • Lead creative teams, including designers, photographers, videographers, copywriters, social talent, and external agencies, providing clear direction and feedback.
  • Oversee the creation and assist the Creative Team with the approval of all customer-facing content, ensuring brand consistency across email, social, web, video, print, packaging, and advertising.
  • Monitor the visual and tonal representation of all brands across channels.
  • Collaborate with Product Development on high-level product design and concepting to ensure brand cohesion and product creation that meets the needs of desired customer base.
  • Serve as the final arbiter of brand voice, ensuring that all content is aligned with the established brand narrative.
  • Anything creative and brand-related that the customer sees would fall under this role's domain.
  • We will lean heavily on this role to help craft each brands' story, identify the customer base, and will rely on them to ensure that all creative efforts moving forward align with that narrative.
  • Willingness to wear multiple hats on the creative side.
  • Other duties as reasonably assigned.

Education/Experience:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Marketing, Communications, Graphic Design, Art, Photography, related field, or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years brand management experience, preferably in a leadership role
  • 2+ years experience in eCommerce, private label and/or retail preferred.
  • Experience working with photographers, videographers, graphic designers, and stylists.
  • Experience with packaging design is a plus but not essential.
  • Attention to detail and highly organized.
  • Understanding of lifestyle apparel landscape, sporting goods, and appreciation for the relationship between sports and apparel/products.
  • Shopify experience is a plus but not essential.
  • Baseball and pickleball knowledge/experience is preferred.

All Jobs at Pro Athlete Require:
  • Core Value alignment. Our Core Values are the driving force behind how we do business.
  • Self-driven work ethic. You must be a self-starter who is resourceful, loves taking initiative and seeing things through to completion.
  • Genuine curiosity and the desire to learn. We are ever-changing and need employees who are innovative and adaptable.
