The Cedarville University Department of Art, Design, and Theatre in the School of Arts and Humanities invites applications for a full-time faculty position in Visual Communication Design. Faculty rank is commensurate with experience and credentials. Eligibility for a tenure-track appointment will be determined based on institutional needs and candidate qualifications at the time of hire.
We seek a creative, collaborative, and faith-driven designer-educator who is passionate about preparing students to excel in professional design practice while integrating biblical truth in every aspect of their work.
Essential Functions:
  • Teach courses in typography, design research, print production, portfolio development, and digital tools.
  • Mentor and disciple students while fostering spiritual and creative growth.
  • Contribute to ongoing program development and curriculum innovation.
  • Maintain active engagement in professional design and scholarly or creative work.
  • Collaborate collegially within the department and across the university community.

Position Requirements:
  • MFA in Visual Communication Design or a related field.
  • Strong professional portfolio demonstrating excellence in design, typography, and visual communication.
  • Proven success in college-level teaching and a commitment to student-centered learning preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills
  • Commitment to biblical integration in and out of the classroom.
  • A born again Christian with a personal commitment to Christ and alignment with Cedarville University's Doctrinal Statement, Community Covenant, mission, and general Workplace Standards.

Employment is subject to the University's verification of credentials along with other information required by law and Cedarville University policies, including the successful completion of a background check.
