Job description

Family Pet Medical Clinic is seeking a full-time Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) or Experienced Veterinary Assistant to join our growing team in Kansas City, Missouri. We are looking for a dependable, skilled, and team-oriented individual who takes pride in patient care, communicates well with clients and coworkers, and wants to be part of a supportive clinical environment. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys a fast-paced day, works well in a collaborative setting, and is confident in both hands-on patient care and daily hospital flow.

Position Details:

Job Title: Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) or Experienced Veterinary Assistant
Job Type: Full-Time
Location: Family Pet Medical Clinic, Kansas City, MO
Pay Range: $17.00–$26.00 per hour, depending on experience, skill set, and credentials

Schedule

We have built this position with consistency and work-life balance in mind.

  • Full-time schedule
  • One fixed weekday off each week (same day every week, predetermined)
  • Every other Saturday off
  • Clinic hours:
    • Monday–Friday: 8:00 AM–5:30 PM
    • Saturday: 8:00 AM–12:00 PM
    • Sunday: Closed

We are seeking either:

  • A Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT)
    or
  • An Experienced Veterinary Assistant with strong hands-on clinical veterinary experience

Responsibilities:

Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

  • Greeting and assisting with patient intake
  • Obtaining accurate medical histories from clients
  • Recording vital signs and patient observations
  • Safe animal handling and restraint
  • Venipuncture and sample collection
  • Catheter placement
  • Administering injections and medications as directed
  • Assisting the veterinarian during exams, treatments, and procedures
  • Running in-house laboratory tests
  • Preparing and processing laboratory samples
  • Taking and assisting with radiographs
  • Supporting surgical and dental procedures
  • Monitoring anesthesia, depending on experience and credentials
  • Preparing treatment areas and maintaining hospital cleanliness
  • Filling prescriptions and preparing medications as directed
  • Client education regarding medications, preventive care, treatment plans, and discharge instructions
  • Entering accurate and timely medical notes and documentation
  • Assisting with general treatment area workflow and daily task completion
  • Maintaining an organized, clean, and efficient clinical environment

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT)
    or
  • Experienced Veterinary Assistant with strong hands-on clinical veterinary experience
  • Previous experience in a veterinary clinic or animal hospital
  • Strong patient handling and restraint skills
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Dependable attendance and punctuality
  • Professional attitude with clients and team members
  • Ability to multitask and stay organized throughout the day

Preferred:

  • Missouri RVT credential
  • Experience with venipuncture and catheter placement
  • Experience with radiology
  • Experience with surgical or dental assisting
  • Anesthesia monitoring experience
  • In-house laboratory experience
  • Experience with veterinary software and medical record documentation
  • Ability to work independently while also functioning well as part of a team
