Description of Job Duties
Direct all inquiries to the Acting Writing Center Director, Dr. Jenny Smith, jjsmith@noctrl.edu who will complete the hiring process for 2026-2027
  • Provide one-on-one or group tutoring sessions in writing for undergraduate students; tutoring will occur during Writing Center hours and may take place in Oesterle or online.
  • Provide constructive and appropriate feedback by reading, reviewing, and critically questioning student writing.
  • Monitor and record student appointments.
  • Attend required tutor trainings and monthly meetings.

Job Qualifications
Minimum:
  • Must be currently enrolled as a North Central College student or will be enrolled for Fall
  • Cumulative GPA of 3.0
  • Must have earned B+ or better in a first-year writing course, demonstrating strong written and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Able to tutor at the Writing Center for both the Fall and Spring semesters of the academic year and commit to working a minimum of 4 hours a week (for 2 hour slots).
  • Able and willing to complete 6-8 hours of paid training.
