Job description

Position - Director of Sales, Growth Stage Consumer Brand

Location - NYC

Compensation - Base: $15,000 – $185,000 OTE: $200,000 – $260,000 Equity: Competitive equity package commensurate with experience + uncapped commission

Our client is a growth-stage electric vehicle brand building its commercial engine from the ground up. The Sales Director will own the entire customer journey — from first touchpoint through delivery and beyond — across both direct-to-consumer (DTC) and B2B channels. This is a foundational hire that will shape how the company scales its reach, builds its brand, and closes revenue. You will work cross-functionally with Marketing, Product, and Operations to ensure every client, dealer, and fleet operator receives a premium, frictionless experience.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop and execute go-to-market sales strategy across DTC and B2B channels
  • Own revenue targets and build accurate forecasting models from first principles
  • Create and refine the sales playbook — from lead qualification to close to delivery handoff
  • Cultivate relationships with private clients; design a white-glove purchase and delivery experience
  • Identify and close strategic B2B opportunities — corporate fleets, hospitality partners, and luxury rental/subscription services
  • Hire, coach, and develop a high-performing sales team as the company scales
  • Select and implement the sales technology stack and establish KPIs and reporting cadences

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 8+ years in sales with 3+ years in a leadership capacity; consistent quota attainment at 100%+
  • Background in luxury or premium consumer categories — automotive, aviation, yachts, real estate, fine art, or high-end hospitality
  • Proven builder: has created sales processes from scratch at a growth-stage company, not just inherited them
  • Hands-on leader — comfortable taking calls, running demos, and closing deals alongside the team
  • Strong cross-functional collaborator with Marketing, Product, and Operations
  • Relationship-first approach — builds long-term trust-based client relationships, not transactional interactions
  • Genuine passion for vehicles and the evolution of urban mobility
  • Willing and able to travel 30–50% for client meetings, events, and team coaching

NICE TO HAVE:

  • Experience with direct-to-consumer vehicle sales models (Tesla, Rivian, Lucid, Polestar)
  • Existing network of high-net-worth or ultra-high-net-worth contacts or collectors
  • Familiarity with EV technology and sustainability narratives
  • Experience launching a new vehicle brand or product line
