Job Summary:
The Risk Director is responsible for managing the Risk, Safety and Security programs at Grand Canyon Railway & Hotel (GCR&H) and Tusayan Properties.
The Details:Position Type: Salaried -exempt.
Pay: Depending on experience.
Schedule: 40 Hour work week. Work hours may include a nonstandard workweek.

Responsibilities
  • Fully understand and support Xanterra's Mission Statement, Cultural Pillars, Community Commitment and Core Values.
  • Responsible for the development and implementation of safety programs for the properties in accordance with annual action plans approved by the General Manager and Corporate Director of Risk Management. This may include Incident Action Plans, Physical Security Plan, Emergency Action Plan, Job Hazard Assessments, program writing, training and performance tracking.
  • Manage general liability, auto and workers' compensation claims; following company claims protocols and the direction of the Corporate Claims Manager.
  • Reviews and interprets employee accident reports for proper inclusion on OSHA 300 Log and electronic reporting.
  • Maintains current log of work-related injuries and illnesses for OSHA 300 log.
  • Investigate guest and employee accidents as needed and lead the Incident Assessment Team to determine means to reduce exposure and risk of further loss.
  • Responsible for developing and administering the annual department financial plan, submitting monthly variance comments, and assisting in managing the department P&L.
  • Work closely with the Corporate Director of Risk Management.
  • Ensures Security personnel are scheduled for maximum coverage and properly trained in company policy. Responsible for effectively and continually monitoring ensuring employees are at an acceptable level of performance; completes performance evaluations and ensures HIG's are done following the appropriate timeline established by the department, submitting them into HR in a timely manner.
  • Ensure that Dayforce (time keeping system) is monitored daily for the entire department. Ensure Dayforce is verified daily by 10am and entire payroll completed for payroll period end (PPE).
  • Oversee company and DOT drug and alcohol programs. Work with laboratories to ensure timely and accurate reporting of drug and alcohol test results.
  • Complete annual insurance renewal applications with supporting documents and submit them to Corporate Director of Risk Management.
  • Manage access control system (SALTO).
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
  • A minimum of three years of risk and/or security experience.
  • A minimum of two years management experience.
  • Must possess a valid/clear Arizona Driver's License and be able to comply with the Xanterra/GCR Vehicle Policy.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in basic science or a related field, or professional equivalent in safety and/or security.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with experience in public speaking or training.
  • Well-developed computer skills utilizing MS Office Suite.
  • Knowledge of GCR Property including rooms and hotel layout.
  • Knowledge of Xanterra/Grand Canyon Railway guest services with the ability to convey information to the guests.
  • Bi-lingual (English Spanish) language skills.

Physical Requirements include:
  • Constantly standing, walking, listening, hearing, seeing, and speaking.
  • Frequently sitting.
  • Occasionally handling, reaching outward and above shoulder, climbing, crawling, squatting/kneeling, bending, lifting/carrying items weighing over 100lbs, pushing/pulling items weighing up to 100lbs.
  • Required to stand and walk for long periods of time on cement floors and to occasionally walk on uneven surfaces.
