Job description

Multnomah Athletic Club is more than Portland's most legendary hub of sports and socializing. It's like a small city unto itself. Where else can you find four restaurants, three pools, a climbing gym, state-of-the-art studios and fitness suite, a complex of racquet sport courts, massage offerings, a boutique, plus a grand ballroom and variety of events spaces all in one place? The Role
The Multnomah Athletic Club is seeking a highly motivated and experienced restaurant supervisor to join our Joe's team. This supervisor will assist Joe's Manager in directing Joe's kitchen team and oversee the daily overall operation of Joe's restaurant. This individual will supervise a diverse staff in maintaining high levels of quality food production and member service.
What You'll Do
Staff Training & Supervision
  • Oversee training, cross-training, and orientation to ensure staff understand policies and expectations.
  • Direct proper cooking and customer service techniques; ensures mise en place readiness.
  • Enforce grooming standards, attire, and attendance compliance.
  • Ensure staff attend mandatory training and follow safety protocols.

Food Quality & Compliance
  • Taste and inspects food for quality, consistency, and presentation.
  • Ensure adherence to recipes and health department regulations.
  • Promote safe work practices and reports hazards or injuries.

Scheduling & Labor Management
  • Assist in creating weekly labor schedules and monitoring attendance.
  • Maintain predictable attendance and supports major holiday events.

Performance & Employee Relations
  • Coach and counsel staff; initiates corrective actions as needed.
  • Handle complaints and grievances; recommend recruitment, promotions, and terminations.
  • Participate in interviewing and hiring non-exempt kitchen staff.
  • Recognize and rewards performance aligned with club values.

Inventory & Purchasing
  • Direct month-end inventory and verifies purchase orders for accuracy.
  • Maintain proper cost of goods through purchasing and costing.

Administrative & Operational Duties
  • Develop recipes and menus; fills out work orders and interdepartmental forms.
  • Recommend policy updates and ensures compliance with MAC code of conduct.
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned by Joe's Manager or Executive Chef.

What You'll Bring
  • Five years related kitchen supervisory experience.
  • Possession of a current Oregon food handler's permit and OLCC permit.
  • Basic culinary math skills including the ability to calculate food and portion costs.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel with basic keyboarding skills.
  • Demonstrated effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated effective organizational, planning and time management skills.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships, develop, and motivate staff, and build cohesive work teams.
  • Ability to coordinate multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work independently making effective and appropriate decisions.
