Job description

Overview

The Director, Middle Office - Security-Based Swaps is responsible for overseeing day-to-day middle office functions supporting the firm's security-based swaps business, with a focus on equity swaps. The role ensures accurate trade capture, lifecycle management, reconciliations, issue resolution, and effective communication across front office, clients, operations, risk, compliance, and technology teams. This position plays a critical role in maintaining operational integrity, mitigating risk, supporting audits and regulatory reviews, and driving continuous process and system improvements.

Responsibilities

PRIMARY ACCOUNTABILITIES / RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Own and oversee middle office workflows for security-based swaps, including trade validation, trade breaks, amendments, resets, and other lifecycle events.
  • Manage and resolve trade breaks in a timely manner, coordinating with front office, counterparties, clients, and operations as needed.
  • Perform and oversee daily reconciliations across trades, positions, lifecycle events, and economic terms, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  • Monitor and manage lifecycle events across the full life of a swap, including corporate actions, rate resets, terminations, and novations.
  • Oversee the identification, escalation, and mitigation of operational and financial risk related to middle office activities.
  • Serve as a key communication bridge between front office, clients, and internal teams, ensuring clear, professional, and timely information flow.
  • Support client-facing communications related to trade issues, confirmations, lifecycle events, and operational inquiries.
  • Partner closely with internal technology teams to enhance systems, workflows, controls, and automation supporting the swaps business.
  • Assist with internal and external audits, regulatory exams, and control reviews by providing documentation, analysis, and subject matter expertise.
  • Develop, document, and enhance middle office procedures, controls, and best practices.Mentor and develop junior middle office staff, providing guidance, training, and performance feedback.

 

JOB REQUIREMENTS / QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum of 5 years of direct experience supporting equity swaps in a middle office, operations, or related role.
  • Strong understanding of security-based swaps lifecycle management and supporting operational workflows.
  • Solid knowledge of cash equities and how equity markets function.
  • Experience resolving trade breaks and managing reconciliations in a time-sensitive environment.
  • Experience working with 1940 Act Funds a plus.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with traders, clients, and senior stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Detail-oriented, organized, and capable of managing multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Demonstrated interest and ability to drive process improvements and operational innovation.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred.

Hiring Salary Range $170,000 - $200,000 (Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities of the applicant, internal equity and alignment with market data.)   Subject to business performance and recommendations of management, this role may be eligible to participate in an incentive compensation plan.  This compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the position, is offered
