About the Job

Senior Director, Supply Chain

Position Summary

The Senior Director, Supply Chain is a key enterprise leader responsible for driving performance across critical components of the company’s supply chain network. This role provides both strategic and operational leadership across areas such as distribution, transportation, and network operations, with scope aligned to business priorities and the strengths of the selected candidate.

Reporting to the SVP, Supply Chain, this leader is accountable for delivering results across service, cost, safety, productivity, and team performance within a complex, high-volume environment. The role plays a critical part in ensuring the supply chain can scale effectively to support growth, evolving customer expectations, and operational complexity.

This position is designed for a versatile supply chain leader who has demonstrated the ability to lead large teams, operate across multiple functional areas, and adapt to different business needs over the course of their career.

Major Responsibilities

Network Operations Leadership

Provide strategic and operational leadership across key areas of the supply chain network, which may include distribution center operations, transportation, and/or other network functions depending on business needs.

Lead large, multi-site teams through senior leaders, driving alignment, accountability, and consistent execution across the network. Establish clear operating standards, governance routines, and performance expectations to deliver sustainable results.

Drive outcomes across service, cost, productivity, capacity, and safety while ensuring the network operates efficiently and effectively.

Supply Chain Strategy & Execution

Partner with senior leadership to develop and execute strategies that improve overall supply chain performance and support long-term growth objectives.

Ensure alignment across supply chain functions to enable seamless product flow from inbound through final delivery. Balance near-term execution with longer-term strategic priorities, including scalability, flexibility, and resilience.

Support network planning, capacity strategies, and operating model evolution as the business grows and changes.

Operational Excellence & Continuous Improvement

Drive a culture of operational excellence through standardization, process improvement, and disciplined execution. Lead initiatives that improve service levels, throughput, efficiency, and total cost.

Champion continuous improvement methodologies and lead large-scale transformation efforts, including systems implementations, automation, process redesign, and network optimization.

Leverage data, analytics, and technology to improve visibility, decision-making, and performance across the supply chain.

Financial & Performance Management

Own and manage budgets, operating costs, and key financial metrics within scope. Identify opportunities to improve cost structure while maintaining or improving service and operational performance.

Establish and monitor KPIs to drive accountability across the organization. Use data to identify trends, address performance gaps, and inform business decisions.

Partner closely with Finance on forecasting, planning, and long-range investment decisions.

Cross-Functional & External Partnerships

Build strong relationships across internal functions, including Merchandising, Finance, HR, IT, Procurement, and Field leadership, to ensure alignment and effective execution.

Collaborate with external partners, including vendors, carriers, and service providers, to deliver reliable, cost-effective supply chain performance.

Influence cross-functional initiatives and represent supply chain in enterprise-level discussions and decision-making forums.

Safety, Compliance & Infrastructure

Promote a strong culture of safety and ensure compliance with all regulatory and company standards across the supply chain network.

Support infrastructure reliability, asset management, and long-term sustainability of facilities, equipment, and operational capabilities.

Ensure risk is proactively managed across operations and that the network is positioned to operate safely and effectively at scale.

Talent Leadership & Development

Build, lead, and develop high-performing teams through strong leadership, coaching, and succession planning. Develop future leaders and strengthen organizational capability across the supply chain.

Foster a culture of accountability, engagement, collaboration, and continuous improvement. Ensure teams are aligned, motivated, and equipped to deliver results in a fast-paced environment.

Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business, Engineering, or a related field required. Advanced degree preferred.

10+ years of progressive leadership experience in supply chain, logistics, distribution, transportation, or related operations, with a demonstrated track record of leading large, complex, multi-site teams.

Experience across multiple areas of supply chain (e.g., distribution, transportation, fulfillment, or network operations) strongly preferred. Demonstrated ability to lead in different functional areas over the course of a career is highly valued.

Experience in high-volume, fast-paced environments such as retail, consumer goods, grocery, or similar industries preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Proven ability to think strategically while driving strong operational execution. Comfortable operating at both a high-level and in the details when needed.

Strong financial and analytical acumen, with the ability to use data to drive decisions and improve performance.

Exceptional leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence across all levels of the organization and build strong partnerships internally and externally.

Strong communication skills, with the ability to clearly present ideas, influence decisions, and align stakeholders.

Ability to lead through change, navigate ambiguity, and operate effectively in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

Experience with supply chain systems and tools (e.g., WMS, TMS, ERP systems such as SAP) preferred.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Leads a team of senior leaders across the supply chain organization, with responsibility for building organizational capability, strengthening leadership bench, and driving performance across the network.
