Job description

The Head of Subsea & Well Control Equipment is responsible for providing strategic leadership and technical oversight for all subsea and well control equipment across the Seadrill fleet. The role ensures the reliability, integrity, and performance of critical well control systems while supporting safe and efficient offshore drilling operations.ย This role will direct departmental planning and progress to ensure productivity and compliance with corporate directives.ย  A strong working operational knowledge of offshore rigs and equipment is needed to optimize team performance and support internal stakeholders.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or related technical field;ย 
  • Must have good managerial/administrative skills to develop and execute above role
  • Good operational background
  • Ability to mentor and develop the team
  • Must be able and willing to work regularly from Seadrill's Houston office location during typical and customary business hours.
  • Flexible to travel offshore as required in any country Seadrill operates.
  • Must pass Drug Screen and Background Check.
  • Complete understanding of Seadrill corporate directives and regional specific procedures

Technical Leadership

  • Lead the Subsea & Well Control Equipment discipline within Technical Services.
  • Act as corporate technical authority for subsea BOP systems.
  • Provide technical support across the fleet.

Reliability & Performance

  • Improve reliability of subsea BOP systems.
  • Reduce non-productive time (NPT).
  • Analyze failures and implement corrective actions.

Asset Lifecycle Management

  • Manage lifecycle of subsea equipment.
  • Oversee major overhauls and recertifications.
  • Optimize spare parts strategy.

Governance & Compliance

  • Maintain corporate standards and procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory and industry standards.

Vendor & OEM Management

  • Manage relationships with OEMs.
  • Support upgrades and performance improvements.

Team Leadership

  • Lead and develop subsea engineering teams.
  • Define competency and training requirements.

Strategic Support

  • Support Director Technical Services on strategy and budget.
  • Contribute to performance improvement initiatives.
