Job description

Job Summary:
Sovos Latinoamérica is a global leader in tax compliance solutions, transforming how businesses navigate regulatory requirements. In this role, you will serve as a technical authority, leading modernization efforts and mentoring engineers while ensuring high code quality and integration of AI-assisted development practices.
Responsibilities:
• Serve as the technical authority for the STAT product, owning design decisions on the most complex features and integrations
• Lead architectural initiatives to decompose monolithic components into scalable, maintainable services
• Set and enforce code quality standards through proactive pull request reviews and design guidance
• Design for production realities — scalability, parallelization, and multithreading — not just functionality
• Collaborate with the Sovos Architecture team to align STAT's technical direction with global platform strategy
• Champion and actively use AI-assisted development tools (Cursor, GitHub Copilot, Devin) and help the broader team integrate them into daily workflows — from code generation and PR review to test coverage and defect management
• Customize and configure AI agents for STAT-specific workflows and establish team norms for responsible, effective AI use in a compliance-sensitive context
• Track and communicate the productivity and quality impact of AI adoption across the team
• Actively mentor engineers at all levels — finding teachable moments, delivering direct feedback, and investing in others' growth
• Take accountability for team outcomes: when the team is struggling, help diagnose it and rally people around a path forward
• Participate in sprint planning, design sessions, and roadmap discussions as a key voice on both technical quality and team capacity
Qualifications:
Required:
• 10+ years of software engineering experience with demonstrated principal or staff-level scope in recent roles
• Strong proficiency in C# / .NET and solid SQL Server skills including query optimization, schema design, and complex data models
• Experience with MVC patterns, WinForms, and React for modern front-end development
• Fluency with Azure DevOps for CI/CD, source control, and work management
• Demonstrated experience leading or contributing to monolith-to-services decomposition, with comfort in domain-driven design and API-first thinking
• Hands-on experience with AI coding tools (Cursor, GitHub Copilot, Devin, or comparable platforms) and a proven ability to help teams adopt and get measurable value from them — not just personal proficiency
• A genuine investment in the people around you — you measure your own success in part by how much better your teammates become
• Proactive communicator who raises flags early, keeps stakeholders informed, and connects cross-team dependencies before they become blockers
• Emotional maturity and self-awareness to handle ambiguity, conflict, and pressure without losing perspective
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience
• Experience in a SaaS product environment preferred
• Due to client contractual obligations, the successful candidate will be asked to clear a background check and drug test upon hire
Preferred:
• Experience in a SaaS product environment
