Job Description
Under the direction of the Center Associate Executive Director, and with close guidance from Youth Development Leadership, the Director of Center Youth, Family & Camp will be responsible for administering all facets of our identified core youth center focused services; including, Play & Learn, day camp, family programming, special events and the development of other family-focused programing. The staff person will be accountable for the implementation and administration of the program initiatives, successful program implementation, recruitment of participants and volunteers, and responsible financial operation in accordance with Association goals, objectives and policies throughout a specified Center.
Qualifications
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. This position requires a BA/BS degree in child development, recreation, elementary education or related field, or its equivalent in related experience.
Must have a minimum of 3-5 years professional experience in YMCA or similar agency.
Applicant must have event planning, program development and delivery skills with special emphasis on youth and family activities and volunteer recruitment and engagement.
The ability to relate to all age groups is essential.
Ability and willingness to collaborate with internal partners to develop well rounded family and youth focused programs, allowing for experiences within several facets of youth facing programming.
Due to the diversity of responsibility, a high degree of organizational, project management, and event planning ability is needed.

Essential Functions
Designated as a First Responder in the event of an emergency.
• Manage Play and Learn including employee schedules, working in tandem with the Center Association
Executive of the Center based on hours of operation.
• Responsible for operations and implementation of standardized Day Camp processes for assigned Center
including collaborating with Center staff to offer sports, and other recreation programs as enhancements
for Day Camp.
• Assists with the development, administration and control of designated budgets, including meeting staffing
ratio targets, administrative staffing ratios per camp Standard Operating Procedure for Day Camp and
expense control, in consultation with Association Director of Camp and Family Programs.
• Selects, trains and supervises paid and volunteer department staff, as indicated in the Standard Operating
Procedure for Day Camp, Youth and Family experiences within the assigned Center.
• Evaluates programs and recommends changes based on compatibility with Association Strategic Plan
focused on Day Camp, Youth and Family engagement programs. Gathering statistics with help of other
agency personnel to develop a dashboard of Youth and Family Impact.
• Interprets Association goals, objectives and policies to the community and constituency.
• Serves as manager on duty in a week night and monthly weekend rotation for assigned YMCA
as designated by Associate Executive through collaboration with Association Director of Camp and Family
Programing.
• Maintain program initiative records and documentation, and prepare reports as needed (e.g. grant outcome
reports).
• Assists the international aspect of the Association including World Service education and fundraising.
• Supervises and is accountable for care and upkeep of program equipment and facilities, including
applicable off-site program locations.
• Assists in the annual campaign for Youth Development.
• Provides direct leadership to specific programs as agreed upon with their supervisor.
• Involved with other community groups in identifying and responding to community needs and issues.
• Assists with any other projects or activities as may be assigned by the Association Director of Camp and
Family Programming and the Center Associate Executive Director.
