Job description

The Job Applications will be accepted until a sufficient number of applications are received. The Public Works Department is recruiting for a Public Works Operations Supervisor who plan, direct, and supervise work crews involved in the construction, maintenance, repair and inspection of roads, flood control channels, landfill facilities, and landscaping projects. Essential duties include: Inspecting prospective job sites and landfill operations Directing work crews to perform road striping and painting, sidewalk, ramp, and road repair Directing the work of equipment operators in the excavation and grading of flood channels, basins, and levees Investigating and correcting hazardous conditions such as sand, debris, and snow removal from roads Interact with the public and other agencies and investigate constituent concerns or complaints Assigning and evaluating work, writing employee evaluations, conducting investigations of incidents For more detailed information, refer to the Public Works Operations Supervisor job description.

Pre-Employment Process: Incumbent must successfully complete a background check prior to appointment. Travel: Travel throughout the County may be required.

At the time of hire, a valid California Class C driver license and proof of liability insurance must be produced and maintained during the course of employment. Physical: Frequent sitting, standing; occasional walking, bending, squatting, climbing, kneeling, twisting, crawling, turning, balancing; requires power and precision grasping. Work Conditions: Frequently exposed to electricity, chemicals, fire, heat, oil, odors, dust, gas, hazardous materials, and noise.

Works on rough and uneven terrain, and exposure to extreme temperature or humidity. Sponsorship: Please note San Bernardino County is not able to consider candidates who will require visa sponsorship at the time of application or in the future. Minimum Requirements EXPERIENCE: Four (4) years of full-time equivalent experience in the maintenance or construction of roadways or flood control facilities, or landfill facilities which includes two (2) years of full-scope supervision directing and supervising the work of equipment operators and construction workers.
