Immediate Opening...Sign Language Interpreter (School-Based) Position Summary Comprehensive Therapy Consultants is hiring for a skilled Sign Language Interpreter to facilitate communication between Deaf or Hard of Hearing students and their hearing peers, teachers, administrators, and other school personnel. Working as an essential member of our educational team within Washington County Public Schools, the interpreter will ensure students have equal access to classroom instruction, school activities, and educational opportunities while maintaining the highest standards of professionalism and confidentiality. Position Highlights: Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM - 3:30 PM. Employment Type: Full-Time. Work Setting: In-Person. Essential Responsibilities Provide accurate, real-time interpretation between spoken English and American Sign Language (ASL) during classroom instruction. Interpret for students during school assemblies, meetings, field trips, extracurricular activities, and other school-related events as assigned. Facilitate effective communication between students, teachers, administrators, counselors, support staff, and peers. Support student access to the educational curriculum while maintaining neutrality and professional ethics. Collaborate with teachers and special education staff to promote student success. Attend Individualized Education Program (IEP) meetings and other educational team meetings when appropriate. Maintain confidentiality regarding student information in accordance with FERPA and district policies. Assist in creating an inclusive learning environment that encourages student participation and independence. Stay current on professional interpreting standards and continuing education. Qualifications High school diploma required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree preferred. Demonstrated proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL). Previous educational or school-based interpreting experience preferred but not required. Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills. Ability to work collaboratively with students, families, teachers, and multidisciplinary teams. Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and professional ethics.
