Organization Overview

The National Skeet Shooting Association (NSSA) is the world’s largest organization dedicated exclusively to advancing the sport of skeet shooting. Since its founding in 1928, the NSSA—headquartered in San Antonio, Texas—has grown into a 501(c)(3) organization representing approximately 15,000 members worldwide through 600 affiliated clubs. Member‐owned and member‐governed through a Board of Directors and Executive Committee, and supported by an Executive Director, the NSSA works to expand participation, elevate competitive standards, and strengthen the community of shooters. Its mission centers on growing the sport, nurturing talent at every level, and fostering a culture of excellence, sportsmanship, and connection.

Position Overview

The NSSA Membership Director is a full‐time, onsite role based at the National Shooting Complex in San Antonio, Texas. The director supports membership operations, governance processes, communications, and organizational programs.

Duties & Responsibilities

The Membership Director/Assistant Director supports the operation of the NSSA, including:

·         Meeting coordination — Prepare for, host, and follow up on action items for:

o    Two annual meetings with NSSA officers and Executive Committee

o    One annual Board of Directors meeting

·         Committee support — Work closely with association committees and presidential appointees.

·         Executive collaboration — Coordinate operations with the Executive Director and peers.

·         Membership program management — Oversee programs for members, clubs, and state/zone associations.

·         Election administration — Certify membership rolls, announce elections, gather candidates, and conduct elections per bylaws.

·         Member communication — Learn NSSA topics and communicate with members and clubs.

·         Logistics & event support — Assist with supplies, awards, and merchandise.

·         Hall of Fame Banquet management — Oversee all aspects of the annual banquet.

·         Publications support — Assist with membership materials, rule books, Records Annual, referee/instructor resources.

·         Media contributions — Provide content for Clay Target Nation, NSSA social media, website, and other publications.

·         Content support — Assist with materials for magazines, newsletters, websites, and social media.

Professional Traits

·         1–3 years administrative management or equivalent experience.

·         Ability to work with staff, committees, and diverse groups.

·         Outgoing personality with interest in member and club needs.

·         Organized and willing to learn NSSA‐specific topics.

·         Availability to work 2–5 weekends per year and travel 2–5 times annually for meetings and events.

Education & Experience

·         Required: High school diploma or GED with 8–10 years of work experience

·         Preferred: Bachelor’s degree with 3–5 years of work experience

·         NSSA, NSCA, or ATA membership is a plus.

Compensation & Benefits

·         Base salary plus annual performance bonus; total compensation range $50,000–$70,000, depending on experience.

Company Description

The National Skeet Shooting Association (NSSA), established in 1928, is a non-profit organization governed by its members. In 1989, the National Sporting Clays Association (NSCA) was created as a division of the NSSA. With approximately 45,000 members and 700 affiliated member clubs, it is the largest organization in the world dedicated solely to the sport of clay target shotgun shooting. The NSSA/NSCA are dedicated to the development of the sport at all levels of participation and vows to create an atmosphere of healthy competition and meaningful fellowship within its membership. Shooters who want to compete can enter fun shoots, skeet shooting tournaments, and sporting clays tournaments. The NSSA/NSCA also offers the hunter a recreational target shooting sport that will strengthen hunting and gun safety skills and extend “hunting” seasons.
