Job Description:
At Vitalant, our mission is to save and improve lives through blood donation, transfusion medicine, and innovative research. Creating a safe, secure environment for our donors, employees, patients, and facilities is essential to fulfilling that mission every day.
As a Security Operations Center (SOC) Operator, you'll play a critical role in safeguarding Vitalant's nationwide operations through real-time monitoring, incident response, and operational support of our enterprise-wide physical security systems. Based in the centralized SOC at Vitalant's National Headquarters, you'll serve as a key member of our security team, monitoring alerts, alarms, and live video feeds to help protect the people, facilities, and resources that make our lifesaving work possible.
Working closely with the National Security Manager, you'll help ensure the reliability and effectiveness of access control, video surveillance (CCTV), intrusion detection, alarm systems, and environmental monitoring technologies across Vitalant's national footprint. Your contributions will support operational readiness, regulatory compliance, and a secure environment that enables our teams to focus on delivering critical blood products and services to the communities we serve.
Compensation: $23 - $25/ hour
This position will work on-site 5 days/ week at our National Headquarters in Scottsdale, AZ. Remote work is unavailable for this role.
Work hours: 2nd Shift - Monday through Friday, 4:00 pm - 12:30 am

As a Security Operations Center (SOC) Operator, you'll get to:
  • Monitor and operate enterprise-wide physical security systems, including access control, CCTV, intrusion detection, alarm, and environmental monitoring platforms across Vitalant locations.
  • Provide real-time security monitoring and incident response from the centralized SOC, maintaining continuous situational awareness through alerts, dashboards, and live video feeds.
  • Investigate security events by reviewing video footage, analyzing access records, validating alarms, and documenting findings in detailed incident reports.
  • Escalate critical incidents, system failures, and emerging risks while coordinating with internal stakeholders and emergency responders as needed.
  • Support the reliability, testing, maintenance, and enhancement of physical security systems by partnering with IT teams, vendors, and security partners.
  • Maintain accurate records of security activities, incidents, alerts, and daily operational logs to support compliance and operational readiness.
  • Collaborate with Facilities, HR, Operations, and other departments to promote a safe, secure, and compliant environment across the organization.
  • Protect confidential security, personnel, and operational information while contributing to a professional, team-oriented security operations environment.

REQUIREMENTS:
KNOWLEDGE/EDUCATION
  • Associates degree in Security Management, Criminal Justice, or a related field or equivalent combination of education and experience, preferred. Intermediate to expert-level knowledge and proficiency of physical security systems and platforms, required. Working knowledge of applicable federal, state, and municipal security regulations, required.

LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS
  • Verkada Certified Engineer, preferred.

EXPERIENCE
Two (2) years of experience in a SOC, centralized monitoring, or security operations environment, required. To Include:
  • Experience in monitoring security systems within a centralized operations center environment.
  • Experience with enterprise-level access control and video management systems.

Experience working in a 24/7 operational environment, preferred. Prior law enforcement or military experience, preferred. Experience working in healthcare, critical infrastructure, or regulated environments, preferred. Verkada platform experience, preferred.
SKILLS/ABILITIES
  • Strong situational awareness and attention to detail.
  • Ability to assess alerts and incidents quickly and accurately.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong judgment and ability to follow procedures under pressure.
  • Proficiency with security monitoring platforms and Microsoft Office tools.
  • Ability to work assigned shifts and respond to urgent or emergency situations.
