Job description

Anduril Industries is a defense technology company with a mission to transform U.S. and allied military capabilities with advanced technology. By bringing the expertise, technology, and business model of the 21st century's most innovative companies to the defense industry, Anduril is changing how military systems are designed, built and sold. Anduril's family of systems is powered by Lattice OS, an AI-powered operating system that turns thousands of data streams into a realtime, 3D command and control center. As the world enters an era of strategic competition, Anduril is committed to bringing cutting-edge autonomy, AI, computer vision, sensor fusion, and networking technology to the military in months, not years.

ABOUT THE TEAM

The Deployments Training Team designs, builds, and delivers training programs for our external customers to operate and maintain our hardware and software solutions. The team delivers training to users all over the world and on a wide range of Anduril products. Training consists of classroom and hands-on field training where practical application with hardware is conducted. Realistic simulated scenarios are a critical aspect of the training conducted and always in-demand from operators.

ABOUT THE JOB

We are seeking a Training Simulation Engineer to join our growing team during its formative stage. In this position, you will help shape how Anduril builds and delivers our software-based training environments. You will contribute to designing and implementing foundational web frameworks to interact with Lattice OS through typescript, xAPI, and other API protocols for tracking and recording training scenarios. Your work will span multiple technical domains as you identify friction points and craft elegant solutions to improve our training infrastructure. This role requires a solid foundation in web technologies, efficient front-end data structures, and the ability to optimize communication with the back-end. If you're a collaborative problem-solver who finds satisfaction in creating tools that amplify the effectiveness of other engineers, we want to talk to you.

WHAT YOU’LL DO
  • Build full stack features for end-user trainer scenario construction & deployment.
  • Integrate flight simulations & other emulators/simulations for Anduril robot representations in simulation.
  • Create NPC logic for neutral scene noise (birds, commercial aircraft) and adversary target behaviors.
  • Create scalable and customized modules that can can be adapted to various customer contexts.
  • Participate in simulation event readiness reviews.
  • Design instructional tool tips and video for non-technical end users.
  • Participate and execute with training simulation scenario development.
  • Proactively identify pain points and opportunities to improve our training experiences and ecosystem
  • Work across the stack (front-end, back-end, build, CI/CD) to get things done
  • Support and mentor fellow engineers on engineering best practices, and on how to best use our tools
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent industry experience.
  • Solid foundation in modern algorithms and data structures.
  • Experience building production web applications in JavaScript or TypeScript (we use TypeScript, React, and RxJS).
  • Experience with CMI5/xAPI, integration with Learning Management Systems and/or Learning Record Stores.
  • Proficiency with modern backend programming languages such as C++, Rust, or Golang.
  • Working knowledge of automated testing tools, and version control software.
  • 3+ years of software engineering experience.
  • Must be a U.S. Person due to required access to U.S. export controlled information or facilities.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Have a bias for action and taking ownership; you have a track record of solving a problem if you see one.
  • Experience maintaining continuous integration systems (we use CircleCI).
  • Experience or interest working in monorepos with modern build systems like Bazel, Buck, Nx, etc. (we use Bazel).
  • Experience or interest working in Go.
  • Experience with gRPC/protobuf or similar technologies.
  • High empathy for your fellow engineers (our customers).
