Registered Nurse - Progressive Care Unit (PCU)

Assignment Duration

This is a 13-week contract position.

Schedule

Night shift: 3x12 hours (19:00 - 07:30)

Job Description

The Progressive Care Unit (PCU) provides intermediate care for adult patients who have experienced surgical trauma. The unit consists of 41 beds and accommodates patients who are hemodynamically stable yet require continuous monitoring and intervention. The ideal candidate will possess strong critical thinking skills and an ability to manage multiple patients effectively.

Responsibilities
  • Provide nursing care to patients with surgical trauma and telemetry needs.
  • Monitor and manage patient vital signs and telemetry readings.
  • Administer medications and perform necessary medical interventions.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including IV teams, respiratory services, and social services.
  • Document patient care and progress utilizing the Epic charting system.
Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure
  • Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience with a focus on critical care or trauma.
  • Current ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications are required.
  • Experience with telemetry and critical care settings preferred.
  • 1 year of experience with Epic EMR is required.
