Summary of the position

The Portfolio Strategist is a member of Sequoia’s Investment Operations Department whose primary role is to partner with advisors on business development and servicing existing clients. Business development will include developing and maintaining relationship with referral channels, investment proposals and ongoing education of Sequoia’s investment platform. The Strategist will also support advisors with ongoing management and review of complex client portfolios.

Responsibilities
  • Assist advisors with visits to referral channels and presentations of Sequoia investment and portfolio management capabilities.
  • Engage and support advisors on prospective, conduct analysis of current investments and propose compelling investment solutions.
  • Collaborate with advisors on segment specific investment needs including investment solutions and client communication.
  • Proactively partner with the advisory team to define clear expectations and deliver consistent, high-quality support.
  • Communicate tactical allocation changes to the centralized trading team.
  • Prepare analysis and lead investment reviews in client meetings.
  • Monitor and assist with the management of complex client portfolios, including working with advisors to maintain alignment with target allocations, analyze tax-loss harvesting opportunities, conduct investment strategy transition analysis and other investment analysis functions as necessary.
  • Conduct ongoing reviews of client portfolios to ensure alignment with client objectives and investment policy.
  • Maintain compliance with all internal policies and procedures.
Required Skills/Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Five years' experience as a Registered Investment Advisor.
  • Minimum three years' experience in portfolio management and/or investment research.
  • Minimum three years' experience working directly with clients or investors.
  • Professional designation or advanced degree such as CFP, CFA, CAIA.
  • Experienced in managing internal relationships and executing strategic initiatives with a large organization.
  • Advanced knowledge of financial markets including an understanding of fundamental, technical, and macroeconomic analysis.
  • Knowledge base of portfolio management and industry software (Morningstar Direct, Bloomberg, FactSet or equivalent).
Preferred Skills/Experience
  • Experience in writing investment research, updates or market commentary.
  • Experience in developing investment marketing campaigns.
  • Experience as regional investment consultant.
  • Experienced in developing and leading a team of investment professionals.
  • Experience with Charles Schwab Advisor Center, custodial platform.
