Job description

Be Part of an Amazing Story

Macy’s is more than just a store. We’re a story. One that’s captured the hearts and minds of America for more than 160 years. A story about innovations and traditions…about inspiring stores and irresistible products…about the excitement of the Macy’s 4th of July Fireworks, and the wonder of the Thanksgiving Day Parade. We’ve been part of memorable moments and milestones for countless customers and colleagues. Those stories are part of what makes this such a special place to work.

Job Overview

Strategy Integration owns the bridge between strategy and production. This team is responsible for creative briefing, agency management, and alignment with brand standards, ensuring that every campaign moves from concept to market with clarity, rigor, and creative integrity intact.

The Director of Brand Strategy Integration translates strategic direction into well-constructed briefs, manages agency partners with discipline, and governs creative output against brand standards at every stage of production. This role requires a builder’s mindset and an operator’s precision: someone equally comfortable shaping a brief and managing a complex multi-agency production calendar.

What You Will Do Creative Briefing
  • Lead the development of campaign creative briefs for all seasonal tentpoles, brand moments, and merchandise initiatives
  • Own briefing standards across the team, ensuring strategic clarity, brand voice alignment, and executional specificity in every brief
  • Translate upstream strategy and merchant direction into agency and internal creative team-ready briefs that minimize ambiguity and accelerate production
  • Partner with brand strategy, marketing strategy, merchant, and channel leads to ensure briefs reflect cross-functional alignment before agency/internal handoff
Agency Management
  • Serve as the day‑to‑day lead for all agency partner relationships, managing performance, responsiveness, and output quality
  • Consolidate feedback across internal stakeholders and deliver clear, actionable direction to agencies at each revision stage
  • Drive discipline around timelines, deliverables, and revision cycles — keeping production on track across complex, multi‑workstream campaigns
  • Develop and manage SOWs, project scopes, and budget allocations across agency partners
  • Partner with procurement and finance on agency onboarding, contract management, and budget management
Standards & Process
  • Own brand guidelines stewardship for the integrated marketing team — maintaining, communicating, and enforcing standards across internal teams and agency partners
  • Maintain and enforce brand guidelines across all deliverables, flagging deviations and driving resolution in partnership with creative leadership
  • Identify bottlenecks in the brief‑to‑delivery workflow and drive continuous improvement across the team's operating model
Skills You Will Need

Creative Brief Development: Translate strategy into clear, actionable briefs that drive strong creative execution

Agency Management: Lead agency relationships, manage performance, scopes of work, timelines, and deliverables

Brand Stewardship: Maintain and enforce brand standards across campaigns and creative assets

Integrated Marketing Operations: Manage complex, multi-channel campaigns from briefing through production and launch

Strategic Translation: Convert business and marketing strategies into executable creative direction and plans

Cross-Functional Leadership: Influence and align partners across marketing, merchandising, creative, finance, and procurement

Process Excellence: Identify workflow improvements and drive operational efficiency across teams and agencies

Project & Budget Management: Oversee budgets, contracts, timelines, and resource allocation to ensure successful delivery

Influential Communication: Communicate clearly, align stakeholders, and provide actionable feedback

Retail Marketing Expertise: Strong understanding of retail marketing, seasonal campaigns, and customer engagement strategies

Who You Are
  • 10+ years of experience in integrated marketing, brand management, or creative operations, with significant time spent at a major retailer, brand, or agency
  • Proven track record managing complex, multi-channel campaigns from brief through delivery
  • Deep experience leading agency relationships — creative, production, and/or media — with a strong command of SOW management and scope governance
  • Exceptional brief-writing skills with a demonstrated ability to translate ambiguous strategic direction into clear, actionable creative direction
  • Strong cross-functional collaborator with the credibility and communication skills to align senior stakeholders across merchant, marketing, and digital teams
  • Detail-oriented operator who can manage multiple workstreams simultaneously without losing sight of quality or brand standards
  • Experience in retail, fashion, or lifestyle brands strongly preferred
