Job description

Title:Director of Religious Education, Full-time (35 hrs./wk.)
Reports to: Pastor/Administrator
Location: St. Cecilia Parish| Fort Myers, FL
Classification: Exempt/Salaried

Overview:
The Director of Religious Education will plan, integrate, implement, oversee, and evaluate the religious education/faith formation of the total Parish community.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Direct and Administer catechetical programs: Faith Formationprograms for toddlers through elementary school children (Family Faith Formation); and responsible for programs for youth and adults including seasonal faith formation events and Bible and book studies. Working with Pastor on short- and long-term goals.
  • Assist the Pastor and Adult Faith formation coordinator in planning Parish short and long-term goals regarding religious education and evangelization.
  • Prepare and administer the Religious Education operating budgets in accordance with budget policies.
  • Collaborate and communicate with the Pastor and other Parish ministries on an on-going basis regarding scheduling and promotion of events.
  • Maintain organized and updated files for religious education families and Sacramental preparation.
  • Plan and direct the annual Vacation Bible school
  • Develop plans and implement for the recruitment and training of catechists and volunteers.
  • Schedule regular catechist and volunteer meetings to encourage the development of a catechetical faith community.
  • Assist catechists and volunteers with their certification requirements.
  • Meet the requirements of safe environment policies regarding Safe Environment Training for Youth.
  • Oversee Youth Ministry.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Must be a practicing Roman Catholic
  • Masters Degree in Religious Education, Theology, or Catechetics and Evangelization
  • Preferred 3-5 years Experience working in religious education/faith formation programs in a Parish setting
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Excellent communications skills, both written and oral
  • Ability to collaborate and maintain positive relationships with coworkers, families, and children is essential.
