Job description

Manufacturing Manager.
Industrial Tectonics Bearings, Corp.
Job Purpose:

To manage and oversee the manufacturing aspects of a designated area or function and achieve continuous and efficient production in desired quantity and quality to meet budgeted requirement. Experience in aerospace is preferred.
Examples of Essential Functions:
  • Exercises direct supervision over departmental supervisors to achieve production volume, cost and quality of production, and meet production schedules and delivery dates.
  • Plans production schedule for the designated manufacturing area in an effort to meet the shipping schedule set by production control. Works with production control to insure parts, process sheets and raw materials are to the department for scheduled start of jobs.
  • Accountable for maintaining discipline in accordance with company policy and for maintaining health and safety regulations and their enforcement.
  • Participates in the decision making process for improvements to hold down scrap and requirements. Recommends suggestions for process improvement that would improve the efficiency of production and the manufacture of quality products to applicable personnel.
  • Coaches supervisors to improve their supervisory skills and improve their training and upgrading skills of operators to improve quality and efficiency.
  • Supports the administrative function by providing required paperwork or forms in a timely manner and the maintenance department in the predictive/preventative maintenance program.
  • Follows and administers budgets and determined and set by Plant Manager. Prepares reports outlining progress as it pertains to departmental budget guidelines.
  • Utilizes the annual evaluation process as a communication tool with employees for goal setting and development programs.
  • The preceding functions have been provided as examples of the types of work performed by employees assigned to this job function. Management reserves the right to add, modify, change or rescind the work assignments of different positions and to make reasonable accommodations so that qualified employees can perform the essential functions of the job.

Experience/Training/Education:
  • Required: Bachelor’s degree from a four year college or university and three to five years related manufacturing experience and/or training, or the equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Desirable: Experience working with bearings.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures and governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers and employees of the organization.
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fraction, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret and extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
  • Must have knowledge of Data Base Software, Manufacturing Software, Spreadsheet Software and Word Processing software.

Physical and Environmental Elements:
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee generally works indoors within the office and manufacturing areas. The employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles and toxic or caustic chemicals. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to stand and walk. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision and the ability to adjust focus.

Special Requirements/Certification (travel, extended hours, etc.):

Some travel may be required to visit customers or suppliers. This is an exempt position and hours will vary depending on business needs; some Saturdays will be required.

MIN/MAX: $107k-$118k.
