Job description

With over 70 years of operating experience, Primoris T&D provides comprehensive services including engineering and design, installation and maintenance, material and equipment procurement, and repair of electrical transmission, distribution, substation, wireless communication, and storm restoration. Our expertise ranges from small consulting projects to multi-million-dollar turnkey programs.

Our Denton, TX based Operations team is hiring its next Quality Specialist - Electric Distribution to cover Central, TX .

Quality Specialists are unbiased assessors who evaluate Operation’s work performance. They work independently of the Operations department but maintain a collaborative partnership with the Operations leadership team. This essential role helps provide performance data through assessments and audits which may identify deficiencies or nonconformance with customer expectations or company policy. These seasoned professionals also work closely with the clients Quality or Inspections group. The Quality Specialist occasionally assist with training and work methods development within their area of expertise.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct regular field audits of in-progress and completed work.
  • Identify non-compliant or unsatisfactory work per customer standards.
  • Visually inspect proper equipment set up and use on work sites.
  • Verify appropriate pulling, rigging, hoisting, and storage methods are compliant.
  • Input data using company preferred programs used to track safety and compliance.
  • Identify and evaluate working conditions and make appropriate adjustments to ensure employee safety & health.
  • Facilitates formal safety or quality meetings in various settings and locations.
  • Provide appropriate coaching and mentoring to employees in the field, so they may achieve a level of excellence.
  • Assist with presenting new products and assembly procedures to operations.
  • Identifies training needs by reviewing incidents, near-miss reports, and job briefings.
  • Complies with established PSC safety and operating rules, procedures, and guidelines including reporting unsafe practices to a supervisor.
  • Complies with established PSC Information Security policies, procedures, and guidelines including reporting suspected information security incidents to Primoris Assist.

Secondary Responsibilities

  • Participates as a member of various advisory teams as requested.
  • Supports emergency preparedness and response plans, including storm or outage related events.
  • Aids in the research and selection of safety products, PPE, and tooling.
  • Complete all PSC Learn, Leadership, Safety, and related company required training courses.
  • Provide immediate updates to the supervisor when customer specifications have changed.
  • Assist in the update and development of the safety handbook and safe work practices procedures.
  • Travel for conferences, training, and meetings as required.
  • Performs other duties and activities as directed.

Education & Experience Required

  • Minimum of 20 years’ experience with time served in a leadership role.
  • Experience in Electric Distribution, Overhead and/or Underground, or directional boring.
  • OSHA 20 and/or OSHA 30.
  • Thorough knowledge of industry approved T&D work methods and practices.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must be able to interpret job prints / staking sheets.

Skills and Abilities Required

  • Ability to work independently and respond to dynamic field environments.
  • Ability to set up meeting rooms, audio-visual equipment, and other training aids.
  • Knowledge of OSHA & NESC.
  • Ability to create presentations and speak to groups of people.
  • Knowledge of electrical theory and electrical distribution equipment.
  • Ability to use basic office equipment (computer, phone, fax, copier, etc.).
  • Skilled in the use of Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, including email and public speaking settings.

Physical Requirements

  • Works both in the office and outdoors.
  • Ability to look up at structures up to 100ft.
  • Ability to lift a minimum of twenty-five pounds.
  • Drives company vehicle.
  • Operates a shovel.
  • Ability to bend or squat as needed.
  • Works extended hours as needed or directed.
  • Works in no or low light conditions.
  • Works in potentially hazardous conditions caused by pets and wildlife in or near the work site.
  • Works in areas with exposure to poison oak, poison ivy, poison sumac, venomous snakes, and stinging / biting insects.
  • Works occasionally, in underground enclosed spaces.
  • Operates office equipment such as a computer, telephone, fax machine, copier, etc.
  • Wears company issued FR clothing and additional PPE required for the scope of work.

Other Requirements

  • Must be willing to travel up to 50% of the time with occasional remote work as approved by supervisor.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license.
  • Must reside in service territory or mileage requirement, if applicable.
  • Must be allowed access to customer / client property.
