POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Project Manager is the project champion and is responsible for driving a project from specification to shipment of initial products. The Project Manager establishes project plans, coordinates project reviews, and ensures the proper implementation of project elements. This position will lead projects by scheduling, planning, forecasting, resource planning to achieve objectives, relaying updates to client/customer, and overseeing technical, procurement, and compliance activities.
The Project Manager collaboratively works with a cross-functional project team and demonstrates excellent project management, organizational, time management, leadership, and decision-making skills to drive projects to a successful conclusion. This position has final planning decision authority to drive projects based on inputs from team members and engineering management.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
  • Track and proactively ensure delivery of milestones (listed below) for assigned projects, including:
    • Proposal and quoting
    • Contract review
    • Project kickoff
    • Project / Design review(s)
    • Job Order Creation
    • Kitting Completion
    • Quoting and purchase order completion
    • Initial hardware build
    • Release to Production activities
    • Project Completion
  • Provide direction to team members to achieve project milestones.
  • Ensure actions are being taken to mitigate risk throughout the project.
  • Assist commercial team by providing project updates to maintain alignment with project and business goals.
  • Ensure delivery of compliant hardware and where applicable First Article Inspection Report (FAIR)
  • Weekly or bi-weekly calls with customers for pertinent timeline updates
  • React to and address project issues by developing and executing an effective and efficient recovery plan.
  • Escalate issues to management for resolution.
  • Provide feedback to management regarding team member performance
  • All other actions related to New Product Development (NPD) Project completion as needed/directed/required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS & PREFERRED EXPERIENCE
  • Minimum of a bachelor's degree in engineering, related field of study, or equivalent work experience
  • Minimum 5 years of engineering experience required.
  • Minimum 3 years' experience in a project management role, preferably working directly with customers.
  • Experience in NPI/NPD processes, required (New Product Introduction/ New Product Development).
  • Proficient using Microsoft Office tools.
  • Working knowledge of project management software (MS Project).
  • Working knowledge of 3D CAD software, SolidWorks preferred.
  • Excellent organizational, time management, leadership, and decision-making skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and accountability to drive issues to closure.
  • Demonstrated ability to read and follow prints, work instructions and other manufacturing documentation.
  • Experience in motor design or manufacturing preferred.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification, Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM) certification, or other project management certification preferred.
  • Previous experience working in an AS9100 and/or ISO 9001 manufacturing environment is preferrable.
  • Self-motivated attitude with the ability to multitask and thrive in a timeline-driven environment.
  • This position requires domestic and possibly international travel up to 10 percent.
