Director, Project Management - Partnerships (Hybrid)

The Role:

As a Director, Project Manager at Capital One, you will create strategies and lead a team through high priority projects for the Partnerships business. You will collaborate with smart and passionate leaders to influence results that have a direct impact on the Partnerships' bottom line. You will lead a team of fellow Project Managers focused on strategic initiatives that include Launch & Conversions for onboarding new Partners, strategic initiatives that support key imperatives, and be the operational lead working with business development for responding to new business initiatives and requests for proposals.

Responsibilities of a Director, Project Manager:

  • Leading teams to drive complex projects and programs by providing strategic direction and vision

  • Designing, developing, and managing project plans in a complex dynamic environment, revising needs to meet changing requirements

  • Leading the intake and prioritization of project management support requests

  • Ensuring projects are being delivered on time and on budget within a challenging environment while simultaneously managing risk

  • Partnering cross-functionally with project customers to provide strategic and tactical thought partnership to effectively drive project delivery

  • Lead the Launch & Conversion of new partners

  • Work with cross-functional teams such as Product, Marketing, Operations, and Tech to establish and lead programs that support key imperatives for the business

  • Partner with cross-functional teams to respond to new business development opportunities

The person will:

  • Exhibit outstanding influencing skills to effectively drive project / program efforts

  • Demonstrate a proven track record of excellent project management, bringing the ability to quickly put structure in place to manage work in a dynamic complex environment

  • Display a passion for coaching and developing a team of associates through their leadership style

  • Have excellent communication and partnership skills which are essential for interacting and communicating with key stakeholders at all levels across the business to manage, inform and influence outcomes

  • Possess an understanding of our Card platforms and the capabilities they deliver for our customers through the end-to-end account lifecycle

  • Display a results-focused mentality with managing our portfolio of projects while keeping risk and being well-managed on the forefront

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree or Military experience

  • At least 6 Years of Project Management experience

  • At least 4 Years of People Management experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Masters Degree or MBA

  • 7+ years of Project Management experience

  • 5+ years of People Management experience

  • PMP, Lean, Agile or Six Sigma certification

  • Strong problem solving and influencing skills

  • Strong communication and collaboration skills

The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.

McLean, VA: $206,000 - $235,100 for Director, Project Management


Richmond, VA: $187,300 - $213,700 for Director, Project Management










Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidate's offer letter.

This role is also eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI). Incentives could be discretionary or non discretionary depending on the plan.
