Girls Inc. of Memphis inspires girls ages 6 - 18 to be strong, smart, and bold. Since 1946, Girls Inc. of Memphis has offered programs designed to build girls' capacity for college preparedness, confident and responsible adulthood, economic independence, and personal fulfillment. As a local affiliate of our national organization, Girls Inc., we benefit from research-based, age-progressive programming specifically designed for girls.
JOB PURPOSE:
The Program Director provides strategic leadership and oversight of Girls Inc. of Memphis program operations, ensuring high-quality, mission-aligned programming that advances the Girls Inc. Experience. This role serves as the primary relationship manager for school districts, school partners, community organizations, and key program stakeholders while supporting organizational visibility, donor stewardship, and strategic growth. The Program Director works collaboratively with the CEO, Development, Grants, and Program teams to strengthen partnerships, ensure program excellence, document impact, and communicate outcomes that support fundraising and community engagement.

Program Leadership & Quality
- Lead implementation of high-quality programs that align with the Girls Inc. Experience, organizational strategic priorities, and community needs.
- Support program staff in delivering consistent, evidence-based programming across all sites.
- Ensure program delivery models are effectively documented, implemented, monitored, and evaluated through agency data systems.
- Collaborate with program managers and coordinators to support the successful implementation of school and community-based programming.
- Recruit, supervise, coach, develop, and evaluate assigned program staff.
- Establish annual goals and provide ongoing coaching and performance feedback.
- Collaborate with leadership to ensure professional development aligns with program quality standards and agency culture.
- Ensure program compliance with organizational policies, grant requirements, licensing standards, and safety procedures.
Community Partnerships & School Engagement
- Serve as the primary organizational lead for cultivating and maintaining relationships with schools, school districts, community organizations, and strategic partners.
- Develop new partnership opportunities that expand Girls Inc.'s reach while maintaining program quality and mission alignment.
- Lead development, negotiation, implementation, and annual renewal of Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs) with school and community partners.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for partner organizations to ensure successful implementation and continuous communication.
- Represent Girls Inc. of Memphis in community coalitions, collaborative initiatives, and public meetings.
- Support expansion opportunities by identifying community needs and cultivating relationships that increase access for girls.
Data, Evaluation & Organizational Impact
- Oversee participant data collection systems and ensure timely, accurate reporting.
- Partner with program staff to ensure all participant enrollment, attendance, outcomes, and evaluation data are complete and accurate.
- Monitor monthly, quarterly, and annual program outcomes using agency data systems, Strong, Smart, and Bold Outcomes Survey, Seeding Success, Compass 360, and other evaluation tools.
- Utilize qualitative and quantitative data to inform continuous improvement, strategic planning, and program decision-making.
- Work collaboratively with the CEO, Development, Grants, and Communications to capture stories, program outcomes, photos, testimonials, and impact data that support marketing, communications, grant reporting, donor stewardship, and fundraising efforts.
- Ensure documentation of program successes and participant outcomes accurately reflects organizational impact.
Development & Donor Engagement
- Partner with the CEO and Development team to strengthen relationships with funders, donors, corporate partners, and community supporters.
- Support donor stewardship through participation in site visits, presentations, tours, impact reporting, and recognition activities.
- Provide timely program data, outcomes, participant stories, and success metrics for grant proposals, reports, annual reports, and fundraising campaigns.
- Collaborate with Development to ensure grant-funded programs are implemented, documented, and reported according to grant requirements.
- Assist in identifying program funding opportunities and partnerships that advance organizational growth.
Strategic Planning & Operations
- Collaborate with the CEO and leadership team in strategic planning, organizational growth, and annual operational planning.
- Assist in developing and monitoring program budgets while ensuring fiscal responsibility and compliance.
- Ensure accurate financial documentation related to program operations.
- Support implementation of agency policies, procedures, and operational systems.
- Maintain effective volunteer and intern management systems, including documentation of in-kind contributions.
- Ensure facilities, program environments, and program operations support safe, high-quality experiences for girls.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Education, Nonprofit Leadership, Social Work, Psychology, Sociology, Human Services, or a related field required; Master's degree preferred.
- Minimum of five (5) years of progressive leadership experience in youth development, education, or nonprofit programming.
- Minimum of three (3) years of supervisory and staff management experience.
- Demonstrated success in building partnerships with schools, community organizations, and stakeholders.
- Experience developing, implementing, and evaluating youth development programs with measurable outcomes.
- Experience supporting fundraising efforts through grant reporting, donor engagement, and impact storytelling.
- Strong understanding of data collection, program evaluation, and continuous quality improvement.
- Excellent written, verbal, facilitation, and presentation skills.
- Demonstrated ability to build authentic relationships across diverse communities.
- Experience working collaboratively across departments to achieve organizational goals.
- Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging.
