Job description

SUMMARY: TheRendering/Waster WaterTrainerisresponsible forcoordinatingand delivering renderingand wastewatertraining activities(operations and authorized safety, maintenance)ina timelyand engagingmanner.The Traineris responsible forteaching the importanceand step-by-step processofcollectingwaste materials (animal carcassremainsand non-consumables)from the production floorsfor byproduct recycling.The trainer will instruct on how toprepare the byproducts for conversation into usable goods such as bonemeal, choice whitegrease,alternativefueland all maintenance training.Responsibilities include planning, leading, directing, and trainingoperators, along with monitoringand trouble shootingandjob training assessments. The position will alsobe responsible fordeveloping and continuously improving the content of STF'srenderingand wastewatertraining, SOPs,authorized training, mechanical training and hands on demonstrational training, PMs, andthe start-up and shut-down processes.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Thislist is not intended to beall-inclusive,and other duties may be assigned.

  • Coordinate andexecutethetraining activities of personnelin accordance withthe company's policies and applicablelaws andmaintainingcompliance withrequiredrefresher training forrenderingoperations.
  • Responsible for training employees in inspecting products to verify conformance to specifications and teaching set-upand adjustments of machines.
  • Responsible for practicing according to Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures (SSOP), Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), federal food safetyregulationsand all company policies.
  • Plan and organize training schedules for thetimelycompletion of alltraining.
  • Organize andfacilitatejob training activities for allrendering operators.
  • Develop a collaborative relationship with all departments.
  • Coordinate all work processes with other internal departments of the company.
  • Comply withall plant policies and the Occupational Safety and Health (OSHA) rules while conducting maintenance processes.
  • Maintainand continuously improvean effective and efficientrendering operationstraining program.Develop a competent workforce byutilizinghands-on training methods in the work area focusing oneffective operations of rendering equipment.
  • Maintains a safe and healthy work environment by following standards and procedures thatcomply withapplicable laws.
  • Maintainan effective safety awareness program including regular departmental safety meetings.
  • Maintainaccuratetraining records of employee training hours, when necessary,take action tocorrectin accordance withthe company's policies and applicable laws.
  • Responsibilities include training employees, planning,directingandassigning on thejobtraining,rewardingand counseling employees when necessary tomaintaina high standard of employee relations.
  • Continuously expanding upon and improvingrenderings standard operating procedures (SOPs).Recommend measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, quality of product, and changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of department and team.
  • Accurately manage time and training records.
  • Conduct highlevel ofcleanliness techniques.
  • Must be or able to successfully complete STF's training and become certified in LOTO, PIT, Fall Protection, Confined Space, etc.
  • Ability to work in an environment with a pungent odor (waste material/ blood/ carcassremains)
  • Abilityto work in an environment with a temperature range from 100 degrees to -20 degrees.
  • Other duties may be assigned bythe manager.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:Must have a High School Diploma or a GED equivalent qualification from an accredited institution with 3-5 years ofrenderingandwastewaterexperience.Musthave a mechanical aptitude.

COMMUNICATION SKILLS:Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills.Ability towriteroutinereports and business correspondence.Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.Bilingual (Spanish) preferred.Ability to effectively manage time and meet all specified deadlines.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:Ability to read and interpret documents in the English language such astrainingprocedures,operatingand maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.Must be able to effectively communicate withUSDA,productionand management personnel.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:Ability to apply mathematical applications to practical situations.

REASONING ABILITY: Abilityto solve practical problems.Ability to interpret a variety of instructionsfurnishedin written, oral, diagram or schedule form.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:Ability to use computers and all standard programs used bythe industryand the ability to learn and effectively useany and allother computer programs(specificallythat are or will be made available.Musthave experience andbe proficient inASCADArendering systems.Musthave strongorganizational skills and professional courage.Must be proficient in MP2.Must have experience with electrical systems, including PLCcontrols;hydraulic and pneumaticsystems;welding/fabrication skills.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:While performing the duties of this job, the employee willbe requiredto moveaboutthe facility.The employee isfrequentlyrequired tostand; walk;use hands to finger; handle; or feel/hold objects; reach with hands and arms;stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; speak; hear taste and smell.The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to10pounds,frequentlylift and/or move up to25pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.Individualmust be able to effectively work in a normal production environment where temperatures and noise levels may vary.

NORMAL WORK SCHEDULE: The hours and days of work areestablishedas needed by operations and at the discretion of managementand,generally asshown below, may be changed (increased or decreased) by management as required.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to cold/hot and/or humid conditions. The employeefrequentlyworks near moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, cold/hottemperatureand vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud. The work environment includes climate extremes found in all areas of plant operations.
