Job description

The Inventory Manager will work with the Director of Accounting Operations on management of Smart Source owned and customer owned inventory. The Inventory Manager will be responsible for maintaining accurate inventory records, analyzing inventory stock levels, and implementing measures to optimize inventory turnover, minimize stockouts, and reduce old and obsolete inventory.

KEY RESPONSBILITIES: 

  • Manage and assistant staff accountant with monthly reconciliation of all company inventory, including all third-party warehouses. (Includes making sure all warehouse charges are allocated back to the appropriate customer accounts.)
  • Monitor and control inventory by audits of external warehouse locations, if necessary, which might require some travel.
  • Work with Staff Accountant to reconcile all third-party warehouses to the general ledger on a quarterly and sometimes monthly basis.
  • Respond to inquiries from management, employees, customers, and vendors regarding inventory quantities and valuation.
  • Review and audit inventory procedures used with the ERP system to ensure all releases and product movement are properly accounted for.
  • Maintain current knowledge of warehousing best practices and serve as a champion for continuous improvement in all aspects of warehousing operations.
  • Collaborate with Accounting and Business Operations to integrate multiple third-party warehouses into ERP system.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Proven track record with 3-5 years of experience in inventory and warehouse operations management with increasing scopes of leadership and responsibility
  • Excellent communication skills for collaborating with various teams such as sales, operations, accounting team members, etc.
  • Proficient in inventory management software
  • Ability to work with internal and external warehouse staff to ensure optimal stock levels and efficient inventory processes
  • Attention to detail
  • Effective verbal and written communications skills
  • Proficient with MS Office 365 (Word, Excel, Power Point, etc.)
  • Self-motivated with ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Collaborative management style with Accounting, Business Operations, Sales and other departments
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills
  •  Experience with ERP system integrations is a plus
  • Experience in the print and promotions distributor market is preferred
